Wear resistance of concrete refers to its capability of resisting the actions of abrasion, erosion, or cavitation. Wear-resisting concrete can be achieved by incorporating (mineral) admixture, latex, microfiber or nanomaterials into conventional concrete. The incorporated materials can improve the microstructure of concrete, restrict the form of cracks

Wear Resistance and Wear Mechanisms in Polymer + Metal Composites
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2010We have investigated composites containing metallic micro-size and nano-sized particles as the 10 wt% dispersed phase. Branched low density polyethylene (LDPE) was the matrix. Microsized metals were Al, Ag and Ni; nanosized metals were Al and Ag.

Wear resistance of polyethylene
Polymer Mechanics, 1973The effect of the molecular weight and branching of polyethylene on its wear resistance in direct contact with abrasive particles has been investigated. The abrasive wear resistance of the polyethylene increases with its molecular weight. Copolymers have better wear resistance than homopolymers.

Abstract The use of thermal spray coatings to restore worn surfaces has provided a significant improvement in surface performance due to improved wear resistance. This article discusses the general use of thermal spray coatings in reducing predominant types of wear, namely, abrasive wear, erosive wear, adhesive wear, and surface fatigue.

Wear-resistant engineering ceramics
Wear, 2001Abstract Engineering ceramics have a high application potential for wear-protection of different working parts used for extraction, processing, conveying, and dust collection equipment in mining and mineral industries, as well as some structural rotating parts. The high alumina (Al 2 O 3 content from 91 to 99.5 wt.%), alumina–zirconia, zirconia, and
