HEDGING MAIZE YIELD WITH WEATHER DERIVATIVES [PDF]
This paper examines the feasibility of weather derivatives in the South African agricultural context by evaluating the merit of rainfall options as a yield risk management tool. The paper consists of three distinctive parts.

Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

Weather derivatives as an instrument to hedge against the risk of high energy cost in greenhouse production [PDF]
In many areas agriculture is exposed to weather-related risks. Weather derivatives that get more and more in the focus of interest can reduce these risks.

Identification of stochastic processes for an estimated icewine temperature hedging variable [PDF]
Weather derivatives are a relatively new form of financial security that can provide firms with the ability to hedge against the impact of weather related risks to their activities.

Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.

Which Method for Pricing Weather Derivatives ? [PDF]
Since the introduction of the first weather derivative in the United-States in 1997, a significant number of work was directed towards the pricing of this product and the modelling of the daily average temperature which characterizes most of the traded ...

A soft, dual‐channel hydrogel patch enables simultaneous detection of wound temperature and strain by integrating ion‐diffusion‐mediated thermoelectric and resistive sensing. The conformal design maintains stable performance during motion, capturing subtle inflammatory and mechanical changes for continuous wound monitoring.
