From Clinic to Computation: Multiscale Bioengineering Strategies for Durable Biological Aortic Valve Replacements

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bioprosthetic aortic valves have revolutionized the treatment of aortic stenosis, but their durability is limited by structural valve deterioration (SVD). This review focuses on the pericardial tissue at the heart of these valves, examining how its mechanical properties and calcification drive fatigue and failure.

Breathable Graphene Oxide‐Polymer Composite Membranes With Two‐Step Barrier Mechanism Against Nerve Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Breathable membranes that reject chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are required for next‐generation protective apparel. A dual‐function graphene oxide (GO)‐polyamine architecture is introduced that addresses the long‐standing tradeoff between vapor transmission and CWA selectivity.

Aerosol, Clouds and Radiation Interactions in the NCEP Unified Forecast Systems

open access: yesMeteorology
In this study, we evaluate aerosol, cloud, and radiation interactions in GFS.V17.p8 (Global Forecast System System Version 17 prototype 8). Two experiments were conducted for the summer of 2020. In the control experiment (EXP CTL), aerosols interact with

Molecularly Engineered Highly Stable Memristors with Ultra‐Low Operational Voltage: Integrating Synthetic DNA with Quasi‐2D Perovskites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecularly engineered memristors integrating Ag nanoparticle–embedded synthetic DNA with quasi‐2D halide perovskites enable ultra‐low‐operational voltage, forming‐free resistive switching, and record‐low power density. This synergistic integration of customized DNA and 2D OHP in bio‐hybrid architecture enhances charge transport, reduces variability ...

Development of the CMA-GFS-AERO 4D-Var assimilation system v1.0 – Part 1: System description and preliminary experimental results [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development
We developed a strongly coupled aerosol–meteorology four-dimensional variational (4D-Var) assimilation system, CMA-GFS-AERO 4D-Var, for investigating the feedback of aerosol data assimilation on meteorological forecasts.

Predicting weather changes [PDF]

open access: yesMOJ Ecology & Environmental Sciences, 2018
Weather changes can be predicted by studing the pressure distribution over a very large surface area on the surface of the Earth. Wind direction and speed can also help in the prediction of the changes that could occur in wether conditions, depending on the surfaces on which these winds track.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.
