Experimental Study on the Influence of Humidity on Double-K Fracture Toughness and Fracture Energy of Concrete under Water Environment

open access: yesBuildings, 2023
Saturated concrete is significantly different from dry concrete in fracture mechanical properties. Using the wedge-splitting tensile method to research the rule of change in moisture content, double-K fracture toughness and fracture energy of three ...

Experimental Study on Fracture Properties of Hydraulic Concrete with Different Crack-Depth Ratios Based on Acoustic Emission and DIC Techniques

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2022
In order to study the fracture behavior of hydraulic concrete, wedge splitting tests are performed on notched cubic concrete specimens with different crack-depth ratios (0.3, 0.4, and 0.5).

Experimental study on hydraulic fracture behavior of concrete with wedge-splitting testing

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2023
Abstract The aim of this paper is to investigate the water pressure effects on hydraulic fracture behavior of concrete with wedge-splitting testing under dynamic loading. Five waterproof strain gauges are stuck along the crack path to observe the fracture process during the experiments. Four silicon water pressure sensors successfully

Experimental Study on High-Energy Gas Fracturing Artificial Coal

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The low permeability of coal seams has always been the main bottleneck restricting coalbed gas drainage. To improve the permeability of a coal seam, a high-energy gas fracturing technology is proposed.

Analysis of accuracy of Williams series approximation of stress field in cracked body – influence of area of interest around crack-tip on multi-parameter regression performance [PDF]

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2017
A study on the accuracy of an approximation of the stress field in a cracked body is presented. Crack-tip stress tensor is expressed using the linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) theory in this work, more precisely via its multi-parameter ...

STUDY ON REINFORCEMENT OF SPLITTING TIMBER BY DRIVING WEDGE TEST

open access: yesJournal of Structural and Construction Engineering (Transactions of AIJ), 2008
A method of driving wedge test was proposed in order to qualify the effect of reinforcement on splitting strength of timber. The wedge was quasi-statically driven into timber in its longitudinal direction by structural testing machine, during which the load and displacement were measured until splitting failure.

Influence of superabsorbent polymer on the splitting tensile strength and fracture energy of high-performance concrete

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
Superabsorbent polymers (SAP) addition as an internal curing (IC) agent in concrete is an approach being adopted for the mitigation of autogenous shrinkage.

Single‐cell DNA methylation profiling: Technologies, computation, and applications in precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell DNA methylation (scDNAme) profiling maps epimutational clonal evolution, revealing mechanisms of malignancy and therapeutic resistance across diverse cancer types. By providing a high‐resolution landscape of intratumoral heterogeneity, these technologies empower precise patient stratification, guide the development of enhanced ...

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
