Influência da forma e do processo de obtenção do entalhe na carga máxima e na energia de fratura de argamassas utilizando o método da cunha para propagação estável de trinca Influence of notch shape and preparation on the maximum load and fracture energy of mortars evaluated by the wedge splitting method for stable crack propagation

Age and crack length effects on fracture parameters of dam gallery concrete: Experimental investigation and modeling

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
Cracks of varying lengths may occur in galleries throughout dam construction, operation, and management processes. This study investigates the influence of age and crack length on the fracture parameters of gallery concrete, which is crucial for ...

Quantum fields on curved spacetimes and a new look at the Unruh effect

open access: yes, 2009
We describe a new viewpoint on canonical quantization of linear fields on a general curved background that encompasses and generalizes the standard treatment of canonical QFT given in textbooks.

Spatial Modeling of Wedge-Splitting Test on Cylindrical Specimens Using FEM Software

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2017
Abstract This paper discusses numerical models of the wedge-splitting test on cylindrical specimens made of quasi-brittle material. These models are used for predictions of crack/damage propagation and are crucial for the further evaluation of fracture parameters. Validation of these models is made based on experimentally obtained data.

Towards achieving strong coupling in 3D-cavity with solid state spin resonance

open access: yes, 2016
We investigate the microwave magnetic field confinement in several microwave 3D-cavities, using 3D finite-element analysis to determine the best design and achieve strong coupling between microwave resonant cavity photons and solid state spins ...

First-principles modeling of electrostatically doped perovskite systems

open access: yes, 2010
Macroscopically, confined electron gases at polar oxide interfaces are rationalized within the simple "polar catastrophe" model. At the microscopic level, however, many other effects such as electric fields, structural distortions and quantum-mechanical ...

Effect of Fiber Orientation on the Fatigue Behavior of Steel Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Specimens by Performing Wedge Splitting Tests and Computed Tomography Scanning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Concrete Structures and Materials
This paper shows the relationship, in steel fiber-reinforced concrete, between fiber orientation and fatigue response through the combined use of computed tomography (CT), digital image processing (DIP) software and wedge splitting test (WST).

Charge self-consistent dynamical mean-field theory based on the full-potential linear muffin-tin orbital method: methodology and applications

open access: yes, 2011
Full charge self-consistence (CSC) over the electron density has been implemented into the local density approximation plus dynamical mean-field theory (LDA+DMFT) scheme based on a full-potential linear muffin-tin orbital method (FP-LMTO).

Non-destructive evaluation of residual strength distribution of recycled aggregate concrete and bond strength between recycled aggregate concrete and deformed bar with different cover thicknesses after freeze-thaw cycles

open access: yesCase Studies in Construction Materials
The thickness of a cover significantly influences both the bonding performance and the durability of materials against frost resistance. This research investigates the degradation and damage distribution of fundamental mechanical properties in two ...

Evaluation of Fracture Properties of Concrete Using Wedge Splitting Test Method

open access: yesJournal of the Society of Materials Science, Japan, 2003
The wedge splitting test method developed by Tschegg was applied to investigate the fracture mechanical properties of concrete. The load-displacement curves of concrete, mortar and steel fiber reinforced mortar under the mode I fracture conditions were measured by different notched specimens and wedge splitting procedures.
