Mechanochemical Amidation Mediated by 1,1’‐Oxalyldiimidazole for the Synthesis of Agrochemicals

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Mechanochemical amidation using 1,1'‐oxalyldiimidazole (ODI) overcomes limitations of 1,1’‐carbonyl diimidazole (CDI) as coupling agent by enabling the efficient mechanochemical synthesis of three marketed agrochemicals from deactivated carboxylic acids.

Characterization of glyphosate-resistant goosegrass (Eleusine indica) populations in China

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture, 2015
Goosegrass is a worst grass weed in orchards and turf. The increased use of glyphosate for goosegrass control has led to the occurrence of many resistant populations.

Development of a sustainable water treatment process using biochar as substrate for filtration and coliform removal

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Preparation, modification, and characterization of biochar from woodchips and its application in stream water filtration, evaluated through physicochemical and microbiological analyses. Abstract Global microbial water contamination affects 1.8 billion people, necessitating efficient and sustainable treatment methods.

Seed Biology and Population Dynamics

open access: yes, 2017
Seed biology is important for emergence in the field and for future weed infestations. This chapter focuses on seed biology, germination, dormancy and efforts in predicting weed emergence from seeds from a European perspective.

Recreational Drug Use at a Music Festival: A Dual Approach Using Hair Biomarkers Analysis and Participant Self‐Reported Drug Use

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
Combined self‐report and hair analysis in festival attendees (n = 249) revealed substantial discrepancies in drug use reporting, particularly for stimulants and dissociatives. This integrated approach enhances detection of poly‐drug use and provides a more reliable basis for monitoring and harm‐reduction strategies.

Weed biology-a future.

open access: yesNetherlands Journal of Agricultural Science, 1968
The author attempts to estimate the value of studies of weed biology to weed control practice. It is agreed that much of the biological information available on weeds is not helpful in control and often is not intended to be. A series of proposals is made to provide evidence that a knowledge of some neglected aspects of the biology of weeds might ...

A new variety of the weed Borreria densiflora DC. (Rubiaceae)

open access: yes, 2009
The weed, known commonly as vassourinha de botao (buttonweed), is present in several crops in northern and north-eastern Brazil. Its occurrence is common in sugarcane and soybean crops in the states of Goias, Tocantins, and Maranhao. However, there is no

Strategies for Identification and Mitigation of Sanguinarine in Mustard Oil Adulterated by Argemone—A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesFood Chemistry International, EarlyView.
Sanguinarine, a toxic alkaloid present in argemone, can lead to epidemic dropsy or chronic diseases through DNA intercalation and immune system suppression. Regulatory efforts face challenges due to economic motivations for adulteration as well as technical, social, and infrastructure barriers.

Spatial and temporal patterns of carabid activity-density in cereals do not explain levels of predation on weed seeds

open access: yes, 2008
Seed predation is an important component of seed mortality of weeds in agro-ecosystems, but the agronomic use and management of this natural weed suppression is hampered by a lack of insight in the underlying ecological processes.

Defining the pollinator garden: is conceptual flexibility a feature or a bug?

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Ecologists often aim to reduce conceptual ambiguity by attempting to create rigid shared lexicons. These efforts imply that ambiguity is undesirable. In some contexts, however, conceptual flexibility comes with under‐discussed benefits. Here, we use the lens of pollinator gardening to explore how conceptual flexibility is built into participatory ...
