On the Weibull-X family of distributions [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA), 2015
In this paper, the Weibull-X family is proposed and some of its properties are discussed. A member of the Weibull-X family, the Weibull-logistic distribution, is defined and studied.

Characterization of the permeability evolution of hard and soft rocks under hydro‐mechanical coupling conditions

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The permeability variation of rocks during complete stress–strain processes was investigated. A mathematical model describing the influence of rock damage on permeability was constructed. The permeability–stress relationship between soft rock and hard rock was proposed.

A new trigonometric-inspired probability distribution: A simulation study and applications in reliability and hydrology

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
The importance of statistical distributions in accurately representing real-world scenarios and aiding in educated decision-making is well recognized. Nonetheless, it is also true that the limitations of these distributions can hinder optimal fitting in ...

Generalized Model of Migration-Driven Aggregate Growth - Asymptotic Distributions, Power Laws and Apparent Fractality

open access: yes, 2012
The rate equation for exchange-driven aggregation of monomers between clusters of size $n$ by power-law exchange rate ($\sim{n}^\alpha$), where detaching and attaching processes were considered separately, is reduced to Fokker-Planck equation.

On the exponentiated Weibull distribution [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2019
A new generated family of continuous distributions based on exponentiated Weibull has been introduced. Then exponentiated Weibull - exponentiated Weibull distribution is proposed as a special case of this family. The cumulative distribution, probability density, expansion of probability density, reliability and hazard rate functions are presented ...

Transmuted Weibull distribution and its applications

open access: yes, 2018
In this paper we study new distribution called transmuted Weibull distribution. Some properties of this distribution are described. The usefulness of the distribution for modeling data is illustrated using real dataset.

Mechanical property variation mechanisms of granite subjected to real‐time high temperatures and subsequent cooling treatment

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study investigates the coupled thermo‐mechanical behavior of granite during heating and cooling through a combination of laboratory tests and finite element analysis. The thermal conductivity, mineral composition, mass loss rate, micro‐crack observation, and thermal fracture characteristics of granite under various temperature conditions are ...

On the non-Poissonian repetition pattern of FRB121102

open access: yes, 2018
Rhe Fast Radio Burst FRB121102 has been observed to repeat in an irregular fashion. Using published timing data of the observed bursts, we show that Poissonian statistics are not a good description of this random process.

A Weibull distribution accrual failure detector for cloud computing

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Failure detectors are used to build high availability distributed systems as the fundamental component. To meet the requirement of a complicated large-scale distributed system, accrual failure detectors that can adapt to multiple applications have been ...
