We present elastomeric three‐dimensional (3D) microstructures fabricated via two‐photon polymerization (2PP) and post‐processed through wet etching, for quantifying nanonewton (nN)‐scale forces applied by healthy and diseased neural cells. The mechanically characterized free‐standing beam architectures enable measurement of traction forces of ...

Management Strategies for Special Permit Vehicles for Bridge Loading [PDF]
Transport Research Arena Europe 2010, 7-10th June, Brussels, BelgiumAn examination of weigh-in-motion (WIM) data collected recently at sites in five European countries has shown that vehicles with weights well in excess of the normal legal limits are ...

The mechanical performance of nanocellular polyetherimide cannot be explained by nanoporosity alone. It is shown that CO2 saturation and desorption leave a distinct mechanical signature in the glassy matrix before foaming. This matrix contribution provides a new route to understand and optimize the brittle to ductile transition in nanocellular polymers.

Bioengineered Interfaces for Peripheral Nerve Sensory Restoration
Half of amputees abandon their prosthetics for lack of feeling. This review charts the full path from peripheral nerve injury to restored sensation, through surgical, regenerative, noninvasive, and implanted approaches, and shows how injury type and interface material properties determine which strategy can deliver naturalistic feedback, and why ...

Soft and Transient Bioelectronics Enabled by Polymer‐Free Ti3C2Tx MXene Hydrogels
We present Ti3C2Tx MXene hydrogel (MXgel) bioelectronics, a soft, flexible, and fully transient platform for high‐fidelity neural recording and stimulation. MXgel bioelectronics exhibit exceptional electrical conductivities, low electrochemical impedances, and high charge injection capacities.

Fatigue Reliability Assessment of Bridges Under Heavy Traffic Loading Scenario
Uncertainties in traffic flows pose significant challenges for the accurate fatigue safety assessment of bridge structures. Fatigue analysis requires detailed information on heavy vehicle-induced loads, which can be obtained from weigh-in-motion (WIM ...

Weigh-In-Motion Data Checking and Imputation
There are about 46 weigh-in-motion (WIM) stations in Indiana. When operating properly, they provide valuable information on traffic volumes, vehicle classifications, and axle weights. Because there are great amounts of WIM data collected everyday, the quality of these data should be monitored without further delay.

Melt electrofibrillation (MEF) enables the fabrication of nanofibrillar PCL scaffolds with defined architectures that guide cellular alignment and retention during cartilage tissue engineering. Unlike conventional melt electrowriting, MEF consistently directs collagen type II‐rich extracellular matrix organization, providing a tunable platform to ...
