An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

Experimental determination of dynamic allowance for traffic loading in bridges [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Transportation Research Board 89th Annual Meeting, Washington DC, 2010-1-10 to 2010-1-14Bridge codes adopt values for dynamic allowance in traffic load models that are necessarily conservative to cover for an entire range of bridges with different ...

Fatigue safety level provided by Brazilian design standards for a prestressed girder highway bridge

open access: yesRevista IBRACON de Estruturas e Materiais, 2021
It is well known that highway bridges are subjected to fatigue as they work under live loads with different frequencies and amplitude. The safety level for fatigue required by Brazilian codes is still unknown, especially for prestressed concrete girders.

Weigh-in-Motion Equipment – Experiences and Challenges

open access: yesTransportation Research Procedia, 2016
AbstractThe Norwegian Public Roads Administration focus on issues to improve weight controls, and the quality of statistic weigh data. An important part of the project is field tests of different methods and equipment for collecting Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) data, with high speed WIM equipment, and V2I communication where the vehicle reports its own weight.

Genetically Programmed Shape‐Morphing of Engineered Living Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, bacterial and mammalian engineered living materials (ELMs) are presented, in which living cells direct genetically programmed and enzymatically mediated shape‐morphing. The resulting deformation and shape‐recovery can be actuated in a genetically controlled manner by an ELM incorporating out‐of‐equilibrium counteracting biochemical reactions with

Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Weigh-in-Motion Systems Review: Methods for Axle and Gross Vehicle Weight Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Access
Weigh-In-Motion (WIM) systems dynamically measure vehicle weight, eliminating the need for vehicle stoppage on static scales. These systems are the most convenient way to identify overweight vehicles, one of the main causes of pavement damage.
