Distributive Lattices, Affine Semigroups, and Branching Rules of the Classical Groups [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study algebras encoding stable range branching rules for the pairs of complex classical groups of the same type in the context of toric degenerations of spherical varieties.

Effects of Dalcroze Eurhythmics Exercise Versus Multicomponent Exercise on Physical and Cognitive Function, and Falls in Older Adults: The EPHYCOS Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
In this randomized clinical trial conducted among 142 community‐dwelling older adults at high risk for falls over 12 months, a Dalcroze Eurhythmics exercise intervention (once weekly, group‐based) improved a variety of physical and cognitive/executive function outcomes compared with a multicomponent exercise intervention (twice weekly, group‐ and home ...

Higher congruence companion forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
For a rational prime $p \geq 3$ we consider $p$-ordinary, Hilbert modular newforms $f$ of weight $k\geq 2$ with associated $p$-adic Galois representations $\rho_f$ and $\mod{p^n}$ reductions $\rho_{f,n}$.

Scalable Fabrication of Height‐Variable Microstructures with a Revised Wetting Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Height‐variable microstructures are fabricated using a scalable CO2 laser machining approach, enabling precise control of wettability through structural gradients. Classical wetting models fail to capture height‐induced effects, necessitating a revised theoretical framework.

Commutant lifting in several variables [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this article we study commutant lifting, more generally intertwining lifting, for different reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces over two domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, namely the unit ball and the unit polydisc. The reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces we consider are mainly weighted Bergman spaces.

Introducing a new technique for limb prepping in orthopedic surgeries: Designing, construction, and evaluation of limb-lifting assistive device [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Lifting and holding patients' limbs while preparing the skin for orthopedic surgeries may be a lengthy process causing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) for preoperative team members.

Weight lifting can facilitate appreciative comprehension for museum exhibits. [PDF]

open access: yesFront Psychol, 2014
Appreciation of exhibits in a museum can be equated to a virtual experience of lives in the contexts originally surrounding the exhibits. Here we focus on the importance of weight information, and hence tested whether experiencing a weight during museum ...

Conducting Polymer Microelectrode Arrays for Simultaneous Electrophysiology and Advanced Brain Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A flexible micro‐electrocorticography array with PEDOT:SS electrodes is shown to be compatible with ultra‐high magnetic field MRI up to 9.4 T. Multimodal brain monitoring is demonstrated by performing simultaneous blood oxygen level‐dependent functional MRI in parallel with electrophysiology.

Wearable Haptic Feedback Interfaces for Augmenting Human Touch

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The wearable haptic feedback interfaces enhance user experience in gaming, social media, biomedical instrumentation, and robotics by generating tactile sensations. This review discusses and categorizes current haptic feedback interfaces into force, thermal, and electrotactile stimulation‐based haptic feedback interfaces, elucidating their current ...
