Asymptotics of the graph laplacian near an isolated singularity

open access: yesApplied Mathematics in Science and Engineering
We investigate the asymptotics of the graph Laplacian on a Riemannian manifold that admits an isolated singularity [Formula: see text]. This operator, and its variants underlie kernel methods, manifold learning, and spectral constructions based on ...

A two‐stage model for precise identification and Gleason grading of clinically significant prostate cancer: a hybrid approach

open access: yesJournal of Medical Radiation Sciences, Volume 72, Issue 1, Page 93-105, March 2025.
This study developed a two‐stage model using radiomics‐based multiparametric MRI and clinical indicators to help identify and grade clinically significant prostate cancer. The model showed promising levels of diagnostic accuracy and predictive performance.

Fragmentation–Coagulation Processes With Advection or Diffusion in Space

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In this paper, we consider a continuous fragmentation–coagulation model in which the reacting particles can be transported in physical space through either advection or diffusion. We prove new results on the generation of C0$$ {C}_0 $$‐semigroups with parameter and use them to show that the abstract Cauchy problem associated with a more ...

Pohozaev-type inequalities and their applications for elliptic equations

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2017
In this paper we derive the Pohozaev-type inequalities for p-Laplacian equations and weighted quasi-linear equations and then prove some non-existence results for the positive solutions of these equations in a class of domains that are more general than ...

Weak Comparison Principle for Weighted Fractional p-Laplacian Equation

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces, 2020
The aim of this paper is to establish a weak comparison principle for a class fractional p-Laplacian equation with weight. The nonlinear term fx,s>0 is a Carathéodory function which is possibly unbounded both at the origin and at infinity and such that ...

Diffusive representations for fractional Laplacian: systems theory framework and numerical issues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Bridging the gap between an abstract definition of pseudo-differential operators, such as (-\Delta)^{\gamma} for - 1/2 < \gamma < 1/2, and a concrete way to represent them has proved difficult; deriving stable numerical schemes for such operators is not ...

Supervised Protein Structure Classification Using Topological Persistence With DeltaFold

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent advances in protein structure prediction have considerably increased the number of available structures, underscoring the need for scalable and accurate methods to compare and classify this huge amount of data. Current approaches based on sequence alignment or structural superposition often lack sensitivity and/or are computationally ...

Interlacing for weighted graphs using the normalized Laplacian

open access: yes, 2007
The problem of relating the eigenvalues of the normalized Laplacian for a weightedgraph G and G − H, for H a subgraph of G is considered. It is shown that these eigenvaluesinterlace and that the tightness of the interlacing is dependent on the number of ...

Propagation of internal gravity waves: Optimal vertical discretisation and grid design based on numerical error analysis

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
An energy‐conserving discrete framework for the vertical discretisation of stratified ocean models is developed using internal gravity‐wave theory. A β$$ \beta $$‐indexed family of schemes is analysed through perturbation theory, revealing optimal parameter choices and grid designs that reduce truncation errors significantly.
