This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Weighted arithmetic–geometric operator mean inequalities [PDF]
In this paper, we refine and generalize some weighted arithmetic-geometric operator mean inequalities due to Lin (Stud. Math. 215:187-194, 2013) and Zhang (Banach J. Math. Anal. 9:166-172, 2015) as follows: Let A and B be positive operators.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Incremental Beta Distribution Weighted Fuzzy C-Ordered Means Clustering
Streaming data is becoming more and more common in the field of big data and incremental frameworks can address its complexity. The BDFCOM algorithm achieves good results on common form datasets by introducing the ordering mechanism of beta distribution ...

Automatic velocity picking with restricted weighted k-means clustering using prior information
Automatic picking of seismic velocity can be performed using k-means clustering. In simple k-means clustering, the number of clusters needs to be predetermined, while the picking result is affected by the initial value of each cluster center.
