Solving Weighted Orthogonal Procrustes Problems via a Projected Gradient Method

open access: yesTrends in Computational and Applied Mathematics
This paper proposes a family of line--search methods to deal with weighted orthogonal procrustes problems. In particular, the proposed family uses a search direction based on a convex combination between the Euclidean gradient and the Riemannian gradient

LEAD: Literature Enhanced Ab Initio Discovery of Nitride Dusting Layers for Enhanced Tunnel Magnetoresistance and Lower Resistance Magnetic Tunnel Junctions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) using MgO tunnel barriers face challenges of high resistance‐area product and low tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). To discover alternative materials, Literature Enhanced Ab initio Discovery (LEAD) is developed. The LEAD‐predicted materials are theoretically evaluated, showing that MTJs with dusting of ScN or TiN on ...

Analytical formulas for polynomial coefficients in radial basis function interpolation

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis
Radial basis functions (RBF) are used in many areas, including interpolation and approximation, solution of partial differential equations, neural networks, and machine learning. RBFs are based on the sum of weighted kernel functions.

New‐Era Polymer Thermoelectrics: Material Innovations, Doping Frontiers, Decoupling Strategies, and Unconventional Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The field of polymer thermoelectrics is entering a new era, featuring breakthroughs in addressing the conventional performance disparity between p‐type and n‐type polymers, pioneering doping frontiers, and sophisticated decoupling strategies. This review explores innovations in molecular design and superior stabilities, bridging the gap from ...

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Christoffel functions and orthogonal polynomials for Erd¨os weights on (–∞,∞)

open access: yesRendiconti di Matematica e delle Sue Applicazioni, 1994
We establish bounds on orthonormal polynomials and Christoffel functions associated with weights on IR of the form W2 = e−2Q, where Q : IR → IR is even, and is of faster than polynomial growth at ∞ (so-called Erd¨os weights). Typical examples are Q(x) := expk |x| α1, α > 1, , where expk = expk (exp (...

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

A New Spectral Mittag-Leffler Weighted Method to Solve Variable Order Fractional Differential Equations

open access: yesAl-Mustansiriyah Journal of Science
Background: In many studies, spectral methods based on one of the orthogonal polynomials and weighted residual methods (WRMs) have been used to convert the variable-order fractional differential equation (VO-FDEs) into a system of linear or nonlinear ...

Gate‐Tunable Floquet Weyl Photon Emission from Topological Dirac Semimetal Cd3As2

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We report experimental demonstration of Floquet band engineering in a 3D Dirac semimetal. Circularly polarized light breaks the time reversal symmetry and transforms Cd3As2 into a Floquet–Weyl phase, splitting Dirac nodes into chirality‐opposite Weyl nodes with nonzero Berry curvature.
