A Christoffel function weighted least squares algorithm for collocation approximations [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 2014
We propose, theoretically investigate, and numerically validate an algorithm for the Monte Carlo solution of least-squares polynomial approximation problems in a collocation frame- work.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Uniform Consistency for Functional Conditional U-Statistics Using Delta-Sequences

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
U-statistics are a fundamental class of statistics derived from modeling quantities of interest characterized by responses from multiple subjects. U-statistics make generalizations the empirical mean of a random variable X to the sum of all k-tuples of X

Orthogonal polynomials for modified weight functions

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1992
In calculating \(I_ \Phi(f)\) numerically with a Gaussian quadrature formula, \[ I_ \Phi(f) \sim \sum^ n_{\nu=1}\lambda^{(\Phi)}_{\nu,n}f(x^{(\Phi)}_{\nu,n}), \] one needs the zeros \(x^{(\Phi)}_{\nu,n}\) of a polynomial \(P_ n(\Phi)\) which is orthogonal on \(I\) with respect to \(\Phi\) to all polynomials of degree less than \(n\). In this connection

Orthogonal Decomposition in Omega-Weighted Classes of Functions Subharmonic in the Half-Plane [PDF]

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Robust Cubature Kalman Filter for SINS/GPS Integrated Navigation Systems With Unknown Noise Statistics

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
to the vehicle's severe maneuver and abnormal measurements of GPS in practical applications, the statistic of process noise in SINS/GPS integrated navigation system may be unknown and the measurement noise may not follow the Gaussian distribution, which ...

Unitary designs and codes

open access: yes, 2008
A unitary design is a collection of unitary matrices that approximate the entire unitary group, much like a spherical design approximates the entire unit sphere.

Monotonicity of zeros of polynomials orthogonal with respect to an even weight function [PDF]

open access: yesIntegral Transforms and Special Functions, 2014
The monotonicity properties of all the zeros with respect to a parameter of orthogonal polynomials associated with an even weight function are studied. The results we obtain extend the work of A. Markoff. The monotonicity of the zeros of Gegenbauer, Freud-type and symmetric Meixner–Pollaczek orthogonal polynomials as well as Al-Salam–Chihara q ...

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...
