On a functional equation related to two-variable weighted quasi-arithmetic means [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2017
In this paper, we are going to describe the solutions of the functional equation $$ \Big(\frac{x+y}{2}\Big)(f(x)+f(y))= (x)f(x)+ (y)f(y) $$ concerning the unknown functions $ $ and $f$ defined on an open interval. In our main result only the continuity of the function $ $ and a regularity property of the set of zeroes of $f$ are assumed.

On the equality of Bajraktarevi\'c means to quasi-arithmetic means [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper offers a solution of the functional equation $$ \big(tf(x)+(1-t)f(y)\big)\varphi(tx+(1-t)y)=tf(x)\varphi(x)+(1-t)f(y)\varphi(y) \qquad(x,y\in I), $$ where $t\in\,]0,1[\,$ is a fixed number, $\varphi:I\to\mathbb{R}$ is strictly monotone ...

Quasi-arithmetic means and OWA functions in interval-valued and Atanassov's intuitionistic fuzzy set theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we propose an extension of the well-known OWA functions introduced by Yager to interval-valued (IVFS) and Atanassov’s intuitionistic (AIFS) fuzzy set theory.

Characterization of the Hardy property of means and the best Hardy constants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The aim of this paper is to characterize in broad classes of means the so-called Hardy means, i.e., those means $M\colon\bigcup_{n=1}^\infty \mathbb{R}_+^n\to\mathbb{R}_+$ that satisfy the inequality $$ \sum_{n=1}^\infty M(x_1,\dots,x_n) \le C\sum_{n=1}

Interval-type theorems concerning means [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Each family $\mathcal{M}$ of means has a natural, partial order (point-wise order), that is $M \le N$ iff $M(x) \le N(x)$ for all admissible $x$. In this setting we can introduce the notion of interval-type set (a subset $\mathcal{I} \subset \mathcal{M}

Means and covariance functions for geostatistical compositional data: an axiomatic approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work focuses on the characterization of the central tendency of a sample of compositional data. It provides new results about theoretical properties of means and covariance functions for compositional data, with an axiomatic perspective.

The Generalized Hybrid Averaging Operator and its Application in Decision Making // La media generalizada híbrida y su aplicación en la toma de decisiones [PDF]

open access: yesRevista de Métodos Cuantitativos para la Economía y la Empresa, 2010
We present the generalized hybrid averaging (GHA) operator. It is a new aggregation operator that generalizes the hybrid averaging (HA) operator by using the generalized mean. Thus, we are able to generalize a wide range of mean operators such as the HA,

Maximizing sum rate and minimizing MSE on multiuser downlink: Optimality, fast algorithms and equivalence via max-min SIR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Maximizing the minimum weighted SIR, minimizing the weighted sum MSE and maximizing the weighted sum rate in a multiuser downlink system are three important performance objectives in joint transceiver and power optimization, where all the users have a ...
