An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Strong Convergence Properties for Asymptotically Almost Negatively Associated Sequence

open access: yesDiscrete Dynamics in Nature and Society, 2012
By applying the moment inequality for asymptotically almost negatively associated (in short AANA) random sequence and truncated method, we get the three series theorems for AANA random variables.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Complete convergence for arrays of minimal order statistics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2004
For arrays of independent Pareto random variables, this paper establishes complete convergence for weighted partial sums for the smaller order statistics within each row. This result improves on past strong laws.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Asymptotic Behavior of Weighted Sums of Weakly Negative Dependent Random Variables [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2008
Let be a sequence of weakly negative dependent (denoted by, WND) random variables with common distribution function F and let be other sequence of positive random variables independent of and for some and for all .

On the weak law of large numbers for normed weighted sums of I.I.D. random variables

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1991
For weighted sums ∑j=1najYj of independent and identically distributed random variables {Yn,n≥1}, a general weak law of large numbers of the form (∑j=1najYj−νn)/bn→P0 is established where {νn,n≥1} and {bn,n≥1} are statable constants.
