Herein, silicon‐based nanoparticle coatings on X2CrNiMo17‐12‐2 metal powder are presented. The coating process scale, process parameters, nanoparticle size (65–200 nm) as well as the coating amount are discussed regarding powder properties. The surface roughness affects the flowability, while reflectance depends on the coating material and surface ...

Elastic‐Wave Propagation in Chiral Metamaterials: A Couple‐Stress Theory Perspective
The intrinsic chirality of chiral metamaterials renders an effective medium based on the classical continuum theory ineffective for predicting their acoustic activity. This limitation is addressed in the present study by employing augmented asymptotic homogenization to derive a couple‐stress‐based effective medium, enabling accurate predictions in the ...

This study explores geometry‐driven phase evolution in gyroid shell metamaterials made via laser powder bed fusion of 17‐4 precipitation hardened stainless steel. Locally hardened regions develop along the primary loading paths in the structure, which finite element analysis and geometric considerations link to enhanced gyroid strength.

Postnatal development under conditions of simulated weightlessness and space flight
The adaptability of the developing nervous system to environmental influences and the mechanisms underlying this plasticity has recently become a subject of interest in space neuroscience. Ground studies on neonatal rats using the tail suspension model of weightlessness have shown that the force of gravity clearly influences the events underlying the ...
