Piano Key Weir Hydraulics and Labyrinth Weir Comparison

Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering - ASCE, 2013
AbstractA piano key (PK) weir is a type of nonlinear (labyrinth-type) control structure with a relatively small spillway footprint.

Hydraulic characteristics by weir type in a pool-weir fishway

Ecological Engineering, 2001
Abstract This study deals with hydraulic characteristics for different weir types and effects on upstream migration of fish in a pool-weir fishway, and presents an optimal design of weir for an easy upstream migration. Experiments were performed to estimate hydraulic conditions for different weir types to determine the overall performance of the weir

Weir velocity formulation for sharp-crested rectangular weirs

Flow Measurement and Instrumentation, 2015
Abstract Discharge in open channels can be measured by sharp-crested rectangular weirs. Generally, measured head over the weir crest is substituted into an empirical formula derived from energy considerations to calculate the discharge. Assumptions made on the derivation are taken into account by defining a discharge coefficient that fits into the ...

The Cullochy weir breach and weir reconstruction

Dams and Reservoirs, 2017
The Caledonian Canal breached in flood conditions at Cullochy Weir on 8 March 2015. The result was an uncontrolled release of water from the canal and the adjoining Loch Oich Reservoir. Scottish Canals worked with consultants, contractors and stakeholders to effect a closure of the breach, reopen canal, and then to reconstruct the weir.

Weir

Proceedings of the Seventh Workshop on Programming Languages and Operating Systems, 2013
For modern software systems, performance analysis can be a challenging task. The software stack can be a complex, multi-layer, multi-component, concurrent, and parallel environment with multiple contexts of execution and multiple sources of performance data.

Calibrated Weir Operation

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1961
The introduction of the Weir operation, which is simply a procedure calculated to reduce the width of the nostrils, has been a great boon in many cases toward the enhancement of the final nasal aesthetic result in nasal plastic surgery. However, since this technique is performed without any mechanical measurements and the surgeon relies exclusively on ...

WEIR COEFFICIENT FOR CYLINDRICAL WEIRS

2015
In this study, the weir coefficient for cylindrical weirs was experimentally investigated. Experiments were conducted for both free and submerged overflow conditions. Experimental results have indicated that the weir coefficient is about 3.50-3.80 for the free overflow condition. The weir coefficient for the submerged overflow condition varies with the
