Enhancing PET Printability via Solid‐State Polymerization: Structure‐Processing‐Properties Relationships

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Solid‐state polymerization (SSP) enhances rheological properties, filament stability, and adjusts crystallization issues for improved PET 3D printability. ABSTRACT This paper aims to investigate the impact of solid‐state polymerization (SSP) on the printability of PET for 3D printing.

In Situ Atmospheric Plasma Treatment Enables First‐Layer Adhesion of PEEK on Borosilicate Glass for FDM‐Printed Non‐Assembly Mechanisms

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
A printhead‐mounted plasma nozzle activates the PEEK melt and the borosilicate print‐bed at the instant of contact. Only this simultaneous in‐situ activation of both interfaces yields reliable first‐layer adhesion (0.22 MPa). ABSTRACT Fused deposition modeling of poly‐ether‐ether‐ketone (PEEK) requires a high‐temperature build plate, yet PEEK does not ...

Characteristics, properties and limitations of per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) and fluoropolymers

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
An overview and categorization of man‐made per‐ or polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) including low‐molar‐mass and high‐molar‐mass fluorochemicals, and their international regulations is presented. Though certain PFASs are toxic, bioaccumulative and cross the human cellular membranes, others, such as fluoropolymers, are safe, reliable and involved in ...

Viscoelastic Modeling of Stress Relaxation in Model High‐Performance Covalent Adaptable Networks

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, EarlyView.
Covalent adaptable networks, often referred to as vitrimers, contain a certain fraction of bonds that are able to exchange with other bonds. The ability of this bond exchange to relax stress or result in flow of the material depends on the concentration and specific concentration of these bonds in ways that can be quantified.

Design and Development of a Modular Ballistic Pendulum for High‐Impulse Measurement in Contact and Near‐Field Explosive Loading

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Measuring impulse from explosive charges in contact and near‐field configurations presents practical challenges due to wide variation in impulse magnitude. Ballistic pendula are widely used for impulse measurement, but many existing designs are limited to narrow operating envelopes or are poorly suited to repeated contact testing and tamped ...
