Crystal Growth Engineering for Dendrite‐Free Zinc Metal Plating

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This research employed the rare‐earth ion dysprosium (Dy) to modulate aqueous zinc (Zn) metal plating. Integrated multiscale experiments and computational modeling unveiled the preferential adsorption of Dy on specific crystal facets, which activated screw dislocation‐driven Zn growth.

Influence of weld phase transformation temperature on hydrogen diffusion behavior of ultra-high strength steel joints

open access: yesHanjie xuebao
Hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC) during welding is one of the most common defects in the welding process of ultra-high strength steels (UHSSs). The level of crack susceptibility is related to the hydrogen diffusion behavior across different zones of the ...

Capillary flow weld-bonding [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
The invention of a weld-bonding technique for titanium plates was described. This involves fastening at least two plates of titanium together using spot-welding and applying a bead of adhesive along the edge of the resistance spot-welded joint which upon

Low‐Dimensional MOF Nanoarchitectonics: Progress in MOF‐2D Material Hybrid Architectures for Energy Conversion and Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights the integration of metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) and two‐dimensional (2D) materials through dimensional interface engineering. By addressing intrinsic limitations like poor conductivity and agglomeration, these hybrid architectures optimize interfacial charge and mass transport.

X-ray film holder permits single continuous picture of tubing joint [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
X ray technique produces a clear continuous picture of a welded brazed tubing joint on a single film with one exposure. A stationary X ray source located in the plane of the joint to be inspected, a means of rotating the tube, and a unique internal film ...

On the use of the Peak Stress Method for the calculation of Residual Notch Stress Intensity Factors: a preliminary investigation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Residual stresses induced by welding processes significantly affect the engineering properties of structural components. If the toe region of a butt-welded joint is modeled as a sharp V-notch, the distribution of the residual stresses in that zone is ...

Crack Repair in Hydroxyapatite Bioceramics Using an Ultraviolet Ultrafast Laser

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
The study proposes an ultrafast ultraviolet laser approach to repair hidden tooth cracks, which has been preliminarily validated on HAP. Moreover, this technique aims to strengthen the native enamel structure rather than introducing a foreign filling material.

The influence of joining technique on the deformation of laser welded T-joints

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
T-joints are often used in large-scale welded constructions. The use of a laser beam for welding allows to create joints using various techniques. Used welding method affects the shape and size of heat affected zone, deformation of welded elements and ...

Evaluation of the strong performance of the circular welded pipe connections with corrosion defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The paper shows the results of experimental studies and the analysis of the impact of long service life of the main gas pipelines, as well as of natural concentrators of stresses on the physical and mechanical p roperties of welded joints of steel 17G1S.

Determination of stress concentration factors in offshore wind welded structures through a hybrid experimental and numerical approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Offshore wind turbine (OWT) monopile support structures generally consist of steel cans connected together through circumferential welding joints. One critical factor to evaluate the localised increase in stresses is the stress concentration factor (SCF)
