Pre‐Curved Everting Robots With Embedded Steering Intelligence Fabricated by CO2 Laser Welding

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Design and experimental demonstration of a laser welded growing robot for anatomically guided navigation. The robot follows an aortic arch phantom entering the branchiocephalic branch through steering by design. The figure shows the physical phantom setup, CAD defined weld geometry and full robot eversion.

Influence of the Welding Process on the Hardness of the Welded Joint

open access: yesRevista de metalurgia, 2004
Laser and TIG welding processes are suitable for welding of thin sheets. Welding of heat-treatable steels causes substantial increase of the hardness in the welded joint area. Laser and TIG welding differ regarding the power density and heat input into the material.

One‐Shot Multimaterial 3D Printing of a Flexible Spine for a Robotic Fish Prototype

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A one‐shot multimaterial 3D printing approach enables a monolithic soft robotic fish integrating a compliant spine and rigid vertebrae. Electromagnetic linear actuators drive tendon‐based transmission, producing controlled tail oscillations. Finite element modeling and experiments show strong agreement, while optimized material selection improves ...

Influence of mechanical properties of welded joint regions on pipeline structural integrity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In this paper, a material characterization inverse methodology is used to obtain structural parameters for all welded joint regions. Furthermore, such are applied for the more realistic analysis of the pipeline numerical model structural response ...

Tips and Tricks for Hardware Removal and Allograft Fixation After a Failed Latarjet Procedure

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, EarlyView.
Abstract Although relatively rare, recurrent anterior shoulder instability requiring revision surgery after a failed Latarjet procedure can result in complications such as graft malposition, graft osteolysis, broken hardware and/or infection. Revision surgery after a failed Latarjet is a challenge due to a combination of technical factors such as ...

From Material Tensions to Organizational Paradoxes: How Manufacturers Cope With the Limits of Circular Product Design

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Circular product design (CPD) is central to advancing the circular economy by enabling the narrowing, slowing, and closing of resource flows. Yet, its implementation remains persistently challenging for firms. Prior research has largely framed these challenges as discrete barriers, overlooking the structural contradictions embedded in CPD ...

Numerical simulation study on the characteristics and propagation attenuation of vibration signals in freezing pipe fracture

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This research study employs analysis system (ANSYS) fluid–structure interaction simulations to investigate the generation and attenuation of vibration signals resulting from freezing pipe fractures in artificial ground freezing projects. By evaluating key variables—including frozen soil elastic modulus, brine inlet pressure, and external pipe pressure ...
