Exploiting Device Deformability for Fluid and Particle Manipulation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Deformable devices enable fluid and particle manipulation modes that are inaccessible to rigid platforms. This review examines soft materials and architectures that translate controlled deformation into microscale fluid operations such as pumping, valving, mixing, and particle handling.

Synergizing Polysulfide Trapping and Fast Ion Kinetics Enabled by Poly(Acrylamide‐co‐Lithium Acrylate) Aqueous Binder for High‐Sulfur‐Loading Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
A water‐soluble AmLA binder anchors lithium polysulfides and reinforces sulfur cathodes by combining amide and lithium acrylate functional groups. The dual‐function network retards polysulfide dissolution in operando and preserves electrode integrity under large volume changes.

Defects That Magnetize Beyond Monolayer PtSe2

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
The presence of a complex point defect consisting of a Pt vacancy (black circle) and a PtSe antisite (red circle) revives and increases the quenched magnetism in bilayer PtSe2. Magnetic properties can be further modulated by the presence of an Se vacancy (blue circle), which can convert the ferromagnetic behavior into antiferromagnetic when it occurs ...

Physical Anchoring‐Assisted Mechanically Guided Assembly for Material‐Independent 3D Mesostructures

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Conventional mechanically guided 3D assembly relies on selective chemical bonding between 2D precursors and elastomeric substrates, imposing fundamental limitations on material compatibility and scalability. Here, we present a physically anchored, buckling‐guided assembly platform based on a rod array patterned elastomeric substrate (RPES).

Navigation of Welding Torch for Arc Welding Process

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2014
Abstract Torch position, traveling speed, and attitude play an important role in welding quality control for both manual and robotic arc welding process. Besides, their detection may facilitate welding process monitoring, welder training, as well as novel ways for many other interesting and useful applications.

[New welding processes and health effects of welding].

Giornale italiano di medicina del lavoro ed ergonomia, 2011
This paper describes some of the recent developments in the control technology to enhance capability of Pulse Gas Metal Arc Welding. Friction Stir Welding (FSW) processing has been also considered. FSW is a new solid-state joining technique. Heat generated by friction at the rotating tool softens the material being welded. FSW can be considered a green
