Influence of welding sequence on welding distortions in pipes [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2008
This paper presents a three-dimensional thermo-mechanical analysis to investigate the effect of welding sequence on welding deformations in pipe-pipe joints of AISI stainless-steel type. Single-pass TIG welding with V-joint geometry in pipes having a diameter of 274 mm and a thickness of 6.2 mm is studied here.

A Study on the Effects of Welding Deformation According to Weld Sequence in Overlay-Welded Structures

open access: yesMetals
In this study, thermal elasto-plastic finite element analysis was conducted to derive the optimal welding sequence to minimize overlay welding deformation on the water wall panels of an SRF (solid refuse fuel) boiler. The water wall panels of an SRF boiler are exposed to high temperatures and corrosive environments, making overlay welding essential ...

Optimizing Welding Sequence and Improving Welding Process for Marine Thick-Walled Circular Pipes [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials
To reduce welding deformation during the automated welding of thick-walled pipes in shipbuilding and thereby improve welding quality, a segmented multi-layer multi-pass welding sequence optimization and process improvement strategy is proposed. Firstly, based on a welding model for thick-walled pipes, a multi-layer multi-pass welding trajectory ...

Role of Bead Sequence in Underwater Welding [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials, 2019
This paper presents examinations of the role of the bead sequence in underwater welding. Two specimens of wet welded layers made by covered electrodes with the use of normalized S355G10+N steel were welded by a reasonable bead sequence. For each specimen, metallographic macro- and micro-scopic tests were done.

Welding sequence optimization of plasma arc for welded thin structures [PDF]

open access: yesWIT Transactions on The Built Environment, 2012
Dividing the weld path into multiple seams that are welded sequentially in a specific order is one of the most important and cost effective distortion and residual stresses mitigation strategies. This is particularly important for welding fabrication of thin structures.

INFLUENCE OF TACK WELDS DISTRIBUTION AND WELDING SEQUENCE ON THE ANGULAR DISTORTION OF TIG WELDED JOINT

open access: yesFacta Universitatis, Series: Mechanical Engineering, 2020
In this paper the influence of tack welds distribution and welding sequence on angular distortion of the Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welded joint was tested. Additionally, the effect of welding current on angular distortion was assessed. For research X2CrTiNb18 (AISI 441) stainless steel (2.5 mm thick) was chosen.

Sequencing and Welding of Molecular Single‐Crystal Optical Waveguides [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, 2020
AbstractMolecular crystals are promising anisotropic optical transducing media for next‐generation optoelectronic microdevices that will be capable of secure transduction of information and impervious to external electromagnetic interference. However, their full potential has not been explored yet due to their poor processability, low mechanical ...

Assessment of HCLL-TBM optimum welding sequence scenario to minimize welding distortions [PDF]

open access: yesFusion Engineering and Design, 2017
Abstract The ITER HCLL-TBM (Helium Cooled Lithium Lead Test Blanket Module) box assembly development implies the welding development of the following components: the Box and the Stiffening Grid (SG) made of vertical and horizontal Stiffening Plates (noted respectively v-SP and h-SP).

Effect of welding sequence on residual stress and deformation of Mg alloy fillet welds

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract In order to investigate the effect of welding sequence on stress distribution and deformation of Mg alloy fillet welds, DE-GMAW modified Gaussian heat source model established by MSC. Marc software was applied to the numerical simulation analysis of welding temperature field and stress field and proved by measurement of residual
