Explaining the Contrasting Welfare Trajectories of the Baltic and Visegrád Countries

Abstract This chapter argues that distinct growth strategies can explain why political, economic, and social actors in the Baltic reformed their welfare states toward the liberal “Anglo-Saxon Plus” model of social investment, while social investment remained a non-issue in the Visegrád countries.

Work Trajectories, Income Changes, and Food Insufficiency in a Michigan Welfare Population

This article examines determinants of changes in food insufficiency status over time in a Michigan welfare sample. The studied determinants include individual constraints on coping abilities, work‐related demands, and resources of households. Analyses use logistic regressions based on data from four waves of the Women’s Employment Study.

This dissertation examined the developmental trajectories of adolescent youth involved with the child welfare system, particularly focusing on their externalizing and internalizing behavioral problems. The study investigated how adolescents’ relationships with caregivers and peers change over time and how they affect these behavioral outcomes.

Many psychosocial stressors, such as foster care, abuse, neglect, and parental drug use have been theorized to impact negatively upon a child's development.
