A New Approach to Data‐Model Comparisons: Using MAGE and Lompe to Unravel Ionosphere‐Magnetosphere Electrodynamics

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 130, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Global numerical simulations are valuable tools for understanding the Sun‐Earth interaction as they provide a more thorough picture of the system when compared to typically sparse observations. Yet, comparisons of these global models against observations is complicated by the inherent uncertainty that the observed phenomena occurred at the ...

Early-life-history profiles, seasonal abundance, and distribution of four species of Clupeid larvae from the northern Gulf of Mexico, 1982 and 1983 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
We present data on ichthyoplankton distribution, abundance, and seasonality and supporting environmental information for four species of coastal pelagics from the family Clupeidae: round herring Etrumeus teres, scaled sardine Harengula jaguana ...

Chronic Cellular NAD Depletion Activates a Viral Infection‐Like Interferon Response Through Mitochondrial DNA Leakage

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 9, September 2025.
Chronic NAD depletion in fibroblasts lowers NAD levels, increases mitochondrial mass, and triggers an interferon‐dependent inflammatory response via mtDNA leakage through VDAC1, activating the cGAS‐STING pathway. This links NAD deficiency to metabolic and inflammatory processes, with implications for diseases associated with NAD decline.

The Association Between Accelerated Biological Aging and the Physical, Psychological, and Cognitive Multimorbidity and Life Expectancy: Cohort Study

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 9, September 2025.
Accelerated biological aging (KDM‐BA/PhenoAge) predicts higher multimorbidity risks and 5.3–7.0 life‐years lost in 332,012 UK adults. Those with accelerated aging face 12%–37% increased transition risks to severe health states. Integrating these metrics enables targeted interventions to reduce chronic disease burdens in aging populations.

Rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine mammals: An analysis of current views and practices. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Stranded marine mammals have long attracted public attention. Those that wash up dead are, for all their value to science, seldom seen by the public as more than curiosities.

Full‐Depth Reconstruction of Long‐Term Meridional Overturning Circulation Variability From Satellite‐Measurable Quantities via Machine Learning

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 17, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The meridional overturning circulation (MOC) plays a crucial role in the global distribution of heat, carbon, and other climate‐relevant tracers. Monitoring the evolution of MOC is essential for understanding climate variability, yet direct MOC observations are sparse and geographically limited.

Limited Choices: How the School-Choice Paradigm Subverts Equal Education for Students with Disabilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
While there is no absolute right to education in the Constitution of the United States, legislation and litigation have created and elucidated specific rights of children to, at a minimum, equal opportunity in education.

Taking It for the Team: How Communication and Voting Increases Social Acceptance of Recycled Water

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 61, Issue 6, June 2025.
Abstract Recycled water offers significant societal benefits, yet public acceptance remains a critical barrier to its use. In this study, we evaluate how communication and group voting rules influence study participants' acceptance of recycled water.
