Characterization of Lignin Isolated from Wheat Leaf Based on LiCl/DMSO Dissolution and Regeneration

open access: yesBioResources, 2016
The isolation of lignin is of great importance to understand its structural characteristics. A lithium chloride/dimethyl sulfoxide (LiCl/DMSO) solvent system has been developed for the dissolution of lignocellulose and for the isolation of lignin for ...

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Ultrafine Sm-Fe-N Particles Prepared by Planetary Ball Milling

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
Ultrafine magnetically hard particles are needed for the bottomup fabrication of anisotropic exchangedcoupled permanent magnets. In this study we have chosen Sm2Fe17Nx because of its high anisotropy field and large saturation magnetization.

Passivation‐Induced Species Dynamics and Microstructural Evolution in Solid‐State Lithium–Sulfur Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The formation of insulating Li2S during discharge in solid‐state lithium–sulfur batteries passivate reaction sites and limits sulfur utilization. In this work, a microstructure‐resolved modeling framework coupling transport and reaction kinetics is developed to predict charge–discharge behavior and reveal particle‐scale species evolution and incomplete

Oxide dispersion strengthened nickel produced by nonreactive milling [PDF]

open access: yes
It is shown that oxide dispersion strengthened alloys can be produced by a postulated nonreactive milling mechanism whereby the dispersoid is trapped at the interface between welding metal powder particles. This interparticle welding is possible because,

Controlled Moderate Interfacial Reaction Facilitates High‐Strength Low‐Resistivity Barrier Layer for Half‐Heusler Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The barrier layer is designed comprehensively by thermal expansion coefficient and interfacial reaction energy to yield a controlled interfacial reaction. Ultimately, the Co25Fe50Ni25/half‐Heusler joint simultaneously achieves low contact resistivity and high bonding strength.
