Dry ball milling and wet ball milling for fabricating copper–yttria composites

Rare Metals, 2018
Abstract Yttria‐reinforced copper matrix composites were prepared by dry ball milling (DBM) and wet ball milling (WBM), respectively, followed by spark plasma sintering (SPS). It is to determine which milling process is better for fabricating Cu–Y 2 O 3

Physicochemical properties of ball milled boron particles: Dry vs. wet ball milling process

Powder Technology, 2015
Abstract Physicochemical properties of both dry and wet milled boron particles with sub-micron sizes were investigated. Milling process was performed in N2 atmosphere and the mass ratio of tungsten carbide ball and boron was fixed at 20:1. It was found that the size distribution of boron particles grinded under dry milling condition was much broader ...

Synthesis of Fe3O4 nanoparticles by wet milling iron powder in a planetary ball mill

Particuology: Science and Technology of Particles, 2007
Abstract Fe3O4 nanoparticles with sizes ranging from 30 to 80 nm were synthesized by wet milling iron powders in a planetary ball mill. The phase composition and the morphologies of the as-synthesized products were measured by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).

The Scalability of Wet Ball Milling for The Production of Nanosuspensions

Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology, 2019
Background: Miniaturization of nanosuspensions preparation is a necessity in order to enable proper formulation screening before nanosizing can be performed on a large scale. Ideally, the information generated at small scale is predictive for large scale production.

Contamination in wet-ball milling

Powder Metallurgy, 2017
ABSTRACTThe top–down approach of mechanical ball milling/alloying is the most commonly adopted route towards materials development. It is however surprising that despite the large impact that it has, process induced contamination (particularly from process control agents (PCAs)), remains less studied and often ignored.

Effect of ball size and powder loading on the milling efficiency of a laboratory-scale wet ball mill

Ceramics International, 2013
Abstract Alumina powder was wet-milled by zirconia balls with varying diameter at varying rotation speed, and the resultant particle size of the milled powder was analyzed. At a given rotation speed, there exists an optimum ball size to yield minimum particle size of alumina. The optimum ball diameter decreases as the rotation speed increases.
