Effects of Ball Size and Particle Size on the Rate of Wet Ball-Milling

open access: yesJournal of the Ceramic Society of Japan, 1990
A lead-based relaxor material for multilayer ceramic capacitors was ground by ball-milling with partially stabilized zirconia balls of 1, 3 and 15mm in diameter and the effects of ball size and particle size of powder on milling rate were studied. Particle size distribution and specific surface area of powders were examined as a function of grinding ...

A powder metallurgy route to fabricate CNT-reinforced molybdenum-hafnium-carbon composites

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2020
An efficient powder metallurgy route including wet dispersion, high energy ball milling (HEBM) and spark plasma sintering (SPS) was proposed to fabricate carbon nanotube reinforced molybdenum‑hafnium‑carbon (CNT-reinforced MHC) composites. To improve the

Hybrid Metal–Carbon Ink for Printed Stretchable Temperature Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We prepare conductive inks for temperature sensing with silver flakes and carbon or graphite flakes in a silicone elastomer matrix. Silver dominates the temperature‐dependent conductivity, while the carbon filler network ensures the stability of the conductive pathways and retains function under strain.

Unlocking the functional potential of asparagus fibre via a novel wet ball milling strategy

open access: yesFuture Foods
This study investigated ball milling as a method to transform white asparagus pomace into functionalised fibre. The effects of ball milling conditions (i.e., temperature: 0 °C, −20 °C or −40 °C; water content: pre-dried 9 % or wet 74 %) on the properties

Impact of MgO Additions on the Oxidation Resistance and Compression Behavior of Vanadium Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An increase in oxidation resistance at 600 °C is achieved for alloys containing more than 2.5 wt.% MgO. It has been established that, along with V2O5, MgO6V2, and Mg2O7V2 are formed, which are presumed to enhance oxidative stability. Furthermore, the possible transformation of Mg‐vanadates through reaction with CO2, which presumably occurs in this ...

Robust Electrocaloric Performance Enabled by Highly‐Polar Frustrated Nanodomains in NaNbO3‐Based Ferrodistortive Relaxor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
P4bm framework in NaNbO3‐Ba(Ti, Hf)O3 ferrodistortive relaxor entails short‐range and highly‐polar ferrodistortive orders. The abundant highly‐polar orders facilitate to increase entropy change, and robust octahedral oxygen tilt enables to impede thermal perturbations.

Effect of Ball-Milling Treatment Combined with Glycosylation on the Structure and Functional Properties of Litopenaeus vannamei Protein

open access: yesFoods
Litopenaeus vannamei protein (LVP) is a high-quality protein. However, its functional properties do not fully meet the needs of food processing. In this study, LVP-xylose conjugates were prepared by conventional wet heat method (GLVP) and ball-milling ...
