Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Investigation of Oxygen‐Free Wetting Behavior of Aluminum on Copper via Molecular Dynamics Simulations and Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The wettability of aluminum droplets (Al) on different copper substrates (Cu), where liquid Al spreads on solid Cu surfaces to form a liquid–solid interface, is studied numerically and experimentally. The experimental and numerical results show good agreement in the fast‐spreading regime.

Temperature Field Analysis for Engagement Process of Friction Disc in Wet Clutch

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2019
The dynamics model of friction clutch of a mine locomotive is established, and the angular speed and heat flux of the master-slave friction disc in engagement process are solved by Euler method.

Numerical and Physical Experiments on Drag Torque in a Wet Clutch

open access: yesTribology Online, 2012
The effect of flow field on drag torque in a wet clutch was examined through numerical and physical experiments. Three-dimensional hydrodynamic numerical simulations were carried out, and the drag torque was measured experimentally for a single wet ...

Friction Behavior of Pre-Damaged Wet-Running Multi-Plate Clutches in an Endurance Test

open access: yesLubricants, 2020
Wet-running multi-plate clutches should be prevented from failing due to the often safety-relevant functions they fulfill in the drive train. In addition to long-term damage, spontaneous damage is of particular relevance for failures.

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Pyramidal Structures on Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia after High Temperature Exposure at 1500°C: New Features on an Old Material

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
New features on yttria‐stabilized zirconia after exposure at 1500°C: Newly discovered pyramidal structures on an old material. After exposure at 1550°C on the cross section of YSZ new features, namely pyramidal structures are discovered. These structures grow with time, increase in numbers, appear as singularities, are often arranged in strings, and ...

The black soldier fly, Hermetia illucens (Diptera: Stratiomyidae): Trapping and culturing of wild colonies in Ghana [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The larvae of the black soldier fly (BSF), Hermetia illucens L. (Diptera: Stratiomyidae), are promising candidates to be utilized in alternative organic waste management and for fish and livestock feed production.
