Wet Grinding and Drying-Grinding Operations
1981By wet grinding the nature of the pulp hinders the direct contact of particles, agglomeration becomes likely only in a very late phase of the process following the thickening of the pulp. The moisture content of the slurry has a determining influence upon efficiency, an optimal value can always be found.

In this chapter the mechanisms of wet-grinding mills are considered. The nature of the forces at work, together with a detailed consideration of their interplay and means of control, are discussed in Chapter 6. The general term “tumbling mill” includes the rod mill, pebble mill, and ball mill. It is of cylindrical or cylindro-conical shape, and rotates

Chemical additives for wet grinding of minerals
Powder Technology, 1982Abstract This paper reviews the recent work on the use of low molecular weight anionic polymers as grinding additives for wet grinding of minerals. Laboratory results on the increase of breakage rates are given, and conclusions drawn regarding the mechanism of the effect.

Wet grinding of gibbsite in a bead-mill
Powder Technology, 1999Abstract The phenomena (breakage, abrasion, chipping, etc.) taking place during wet grinding in a bead-mill have been analyzed using a set of tools developed to allow for a quantitative description of the particle shape, in complement of the classical approach based on selection and breakage functions.

Multivariable control of a wet‐grinding circuit
AIChE Journal, 1983AbstractThe dynamic behavior of a pilot‐plant grinding circuit was modelled by relating three output variables that were representative of the conditions within the mill and the classifier to three input variables, namely feed rates of the solids, mill water, and sump water.A multivariable controller was designed, by the use of Inverse Nyquist Array ...

Grinding characteristics and batter quality of rice in different wet grinding systems
Journal of Food Engineering, 2008Abstract Grinding characteristics of raw and parboiled rice were evaluated in various wet grinding systems, namely, mixer grinder, stone grinder and colloid mill. The duration of grinding had inverse effect on the particle size and direct impact on the starch damage as well as energy consumption in batch grinders.

Aroma Recovery from Roasted Coffee by Wet Grinding
Journal of Food Science, 2010Abstract: Aroma recovery as determined by solid phase microextraction‐gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry (SPME‐GC‐MS) was compared in coffees resulting from conventional grinding processes, and from wet grinding with cold and hot water.

Comparative estimates of the strength of dry and wet quartz in grinding
Journal of Applied Mechanics and Technical Physics, 1998For estimating the brittle strength of cracked dry and wet quartz without defects of the crystalline lattice, the authors use a version of the Novozhilov criterion and the so-called ``a discrete-integral criterion'' previously obtained by the authors. Quantitative estimates of critical loads obtained by means of these criteria completely coincide with ...
