Study of the Effect of Process Parameters and Heat Treatment on the Formation and Evolution of Directed Energy Deposition of IN718‐CuCrZr Interface

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic structures of Inconel 718 and CuCrZr are fabricated using the laser powder directed energy deposition method. The study reveals a strong dependence of interface characteristics such as width and interfusion on processing and heat treatment strategies.

Bulk and Surface Low Temperature Phase Transitions in the Mg-Alloy EZ33A

open access: yesMetals, 2020
Low-temperature phase transitions in the EZ33A Mg-cast alloy have been investigated. Based on the structure assessment of the alloy after annealing at 150 °C (1826 h) and at 200 °C (2371 h) a grain boundary wetting transition by a second solid phase was ...

Monte Carlo simulation of a two-field effective Hamiltonian of complete wetting

open access: yes, 1997
Recent work on the complete wetting transition for three dimensional systems with short-ranged forces has emphasized the role played by the coupling of order-parameter fluctuations near the wall and depinning interface.

Laboratory‐Scale Procedure for Evaluating the Flux Efficiency on Melt Cleanliness and Tensile Properties of Recycled Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...

The Greening and Wetting of the Sahel Have Leveled off since about 1999 in Relation to SST

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
The Sahel, a semi-arid climatic zone with highly seasonal and erratic rainfall, experienced severe droughts in the 1970s and 1980s. Based on remote sensing vegetation indices since early 1980, a clear greening trend is found, which can be attributed to ...

Wedge wetting by electrolyte solutions

open access: yes, 2017
The wetting of a charged wedge-like wall by an electrolyte solution is investigated by means of classical density functional theory. As in other studies on wedge wetting, this geometry is considered as the most simple deviation from a planar substrate ...

Adjustment of Coatings Morphology and Particle Distribution of Layered Silicates by Freeze‐Drying for Improved Gas Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Freeze‐drying of layered silicate is the key to get coatings with superior gas barrier. Freeze‐drying of layered silicates modified with dodecylamine (DDA) is a highly effective technique for the preparation of barrier pigments that significantly mitigate the permeation of oxygen, water vapor, and hydrogen through polymer films containing these ...

Interfacial Phenomena in Fe/Stainless Steel–TiC Systems and the Effect of Mo

open access: yesHigh Temperature Materials and Processes, 2014
Titanium carbide is used as reinforcement particles in composites due to its hardness, wear resistance and stability. This work is a part of the study in which titanium carbides are formed in stainless steel castings in the mold to improve the wear ...
