Transgenic wheat expressing virus-derived hairpin RNA is resistant to Barley yellow dwarf virus

HEREDITAS, 2007
An expression vector expected to induce RNA interference against Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV), which expressed a composite hpRNA with the dsRNA stem homologous of BYDV GPV replicase gene and the antisense RNA loop homologous of coat protein gene, was designed without marker gene.

Crystal structure of the wheat dwarf virus Rep domain

The FASEB Journal, 2020
The wheat dwarf virus Rep domain is an HUH‐endonuclease and is involved in rolling‐circle replication. HUH‐endonucleases, or HUH‐tags, form covalent protein‐ssDNA adducts by coordinating a divalent metal ion to cleave a specific ssDNA sequence and form a phosphotyrosine linkage.

Temporal spread of wheat dwarf virus and mature plant resistance in winter wheat

Crop Protection, 2004
Abstract Wheat dwarf is a potentially severe disease of winter wheat. The causal agent is wheat dwarf virus (WDV), a geminivirus transmitted by the leafhopper Psammotettix alienus . Field surveys of WDV incidence and vector occurrence were conducted for 4 years in winter wheat fields in central Sweden.

Barley Yellow Dwarf Virus Resistance in a Wheat × Wheatgrass Population

Crop Science, 1993
The barley yellow dwarf viruses (BYDVs) constitute an important group of plant viruses of cultivated cereal crops in which only tolerance and/or low levels of resistance are known. High levels of resistance, which we here define as low concentrations of virus in plant tissues, have been discovered in Thinopyrum spp. (formerly. Agropyron). In this study

The Wheat dwarf virus in France: occurence and transmission

2011
The Wheat dwarf virus(WDV, genus Mastrevirus), transmitted by leafhoppers of the Psammotettix genus on a persistent mode, is one of the most severe virus disease on cereals. This virus has a wide range of host plants including Poaceae. The distribution of WDV in France is based on samplings of plant material and leafhoppers throuthough years 2007-2010.

Characterization of Psammotettix species, vectors of Wheat dwarf virus

2015
Cereals can be infected by different pathogens among which the Wheat dwarf virus (WDV, family Geminiviridae, genus Mastrevirus) is the causal agent of dwarfing, mottling and yellowing symptoms in wheat, barley and oat. WDV is exclusively transmitted from plant to plant by leafhoppers from the genus Psammotettix in a persistent manner.
