The inheritance of tetraploid wheat seed peroxidases
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1985Embryo and endosperm peroxidases from dry mature seeds of three subspecies of tetraploid wheat (Triticum turgidum L.) were subjected to genetic analysis. The inheritance of eight isozymes (embryo isozymes a2, d1, d2, e and f; and endosperm isozymes b, d and 4) were studied in F2's obtained from different wheat accessions.

Isoenzyme changes accompanying germination of wheat seeds
Biochemical Genetics, 1969Electrophoretic patterns of soluble proteins and enzymes during development from dry seed to first leaf were studied in wheat by means of disc electrophoresis. The patterns considered were those of alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), peroxidase, and nonspecific esterases. Multiple forms (isoenzymes) were found for all these enzymes in dry seeds.

Thioredoxin h System and Wheat Seed Quality
Cereal Chemistry, 2008ABSTRACTThioredoxin is one of the key systems controlling cellular redox balance in all living organisms. Plant thioredoxins are a diverse multigene family divided into two systems, the chloroplastic and the cytoplasmic systems, which are distinguishable by the electron donor and by the enzyme that catalyses thioredoxin reduction.

Wheat Seed System in Ethiopia: Farmers' Varietal Perception, Seed Sources, and Seed Management
Journal of New Seeds, 2010Knowledge and information on farmers' perception and its influence on adoption of modern wheat varieties, awareness and source of new wheat production technology, wheat seed sources, and on-farm seed-management practices remain sporadic in Ethiopia.

Aging, Free Radicals, and Antioxidants in Wheat Seeds
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1999Free radical oxidative attack is considered a major cause of disruption and deteriorative changes observed in aged seeds. Antioxidant defense mechanisms may remove potentially damaging molecular species, and carotenoids may act as radical scavengers. The content of lutein, the major carotenoid in wheat seeds, was determined in the flours.

Genetic control of seed proteins in wheat
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1977Electrophoretic profiles of crude protein extracts from seed of F1 hybrids and reciprocal crosses among diploid, tetraploid and hexaploid wheats were compared with those of their respective parental species. The electrophoretic patterns within each of three pairs of reciprocal crosses, T.boeoticum X T.urartu, T.monococcun X T. urartu and T.dicoccum X T.

Genetics of Seed Proteins in Wheat
1983The history of cultivated wheat has been closely interlaced with the history of civilization since the early days of agriculture. With domestication, wheat has lost its inherent ability to disseminate to such an extent that its survival today depends essentially on man.

Fusarium population in syrian wheat seeds.
2010Wheat is one of the main crops in Mediterranean countries and Fusarium Head Blight (FHB) is considered an important disease in the Mediterranean basin and worldwide (Stack, 1999; Logrieco et al., 2003). The causal agents are different Fusarium species, responsible for losses in grain quantity and quality as well as mycotoxin accumulation (i.e ...

Seed natural ageing is accompanied by the loss of the ability to germinate and by a reduction in viability. Viability loss is associated with damage to the DNA, changes in the synthesis of RNA and in enzymatic patterns. The loss of viability, in Triticum durum, is accompanied in imbibed seeds, among other components, by a reduced synthesis and poly(A ...
