Testcross performance and combining ability of early-medium maturing quality protein maize inbred lines in Eastern and Southern Africa

open access: yesScientific Reports
Limited commercial quality protein maize (QPM) varieties with low grain yield potential are currently grown in Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA). This study was conducted to (i) assess the performance of single-cross QPM hybrids that were developed from ...

Hybrid breeding in wheat: technologies to improve hybrid wheat seed production [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Botany, 2013
Global food security demands the development and delivery of new technologies to increase and secure cereal production on finite arable land without increasing water and fertilizer use. There are several options for boosting wheat yields, but most offer only small yield increases.

Roadmap to Precision 3D Printing of Cellulose: Rheology‐Guided Formulation, Fidelity Assessment, and Application Horizons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This critical review presents a comprehensive roadmap for the precision 3D printing of cellulose. Quantitative correlations link ink formulation and rheological properties to print fidelity and final material performance. This framework guides the development of advanced functional materials, from biomedical scaffolds to electromagnetic shielding ...

Studies on the effectiveness of various insecticides and drying in controlling granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius L.) in stored wheat seed : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirement for the degree of Master in Agricultural Science (Seed Technology) at Massey University, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
This study was designed to examine the effects of various insecticidal materials and of repeated seed drying during storage on the population dynamics and survival of Granary Wevil (Sitophilus granarious L.) in wheat.

Greening winter wheat seed crops

open access: yesMyronivka Bulletin, 2017

Long‐Term Elevated CO2 Improves Soil Health and Rice Yields in Paddy Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combining the two longest‐running rice free‐air CO2 enrichment experiments with a global data synthesis, this study demonstrates that long‐term elevated CO2 consistently enhances soil health. In rice paddies, this improvement sustains the CO2 fertilization effect over decades.

Association Mapping for Common Bunt Resistance in Wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Common bunt, caused by Tilletia caries and T. foetida, is a fungal disease of wheat world wide. Infection, occurring via seed borne teliospores, is generally controlled by the application of seed treatments prior to sowing.

Enzymatic Remodelling of Tumour Microenvironment Enhances Anti‐CEACAM5 CAR T‐Cell Efficacy Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study shows anti‐CEACAM5 CAR T‐cells are ineffective against colorectal cancer (CRC) because of CEACAM5 sequestration at intercellular junctions and the thick tumour cell glycocalyx. Enzymatic treatments of CRC cell monolayer/tissue section with trypsin or hyaluronidase restore CEACAM5 availability, enhance CAR T‐cell activation, increase ...

An Investigation of Seed Treatments for the Control of Crow Damage to Newly-Sown Wheat [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
End of project reportSeed treatments for the control of crow damage to newly-sown winter and spring wheat were evaluated in field trials from 2004 to 2007. Treatments included six fungicides, three insecticides, a product marketed as a bird repellent and
