Ozonolytic Delignification of Wheat Straw

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2020
The dynamics of wheat straw delignification with ozone treatment is studied. The dependence of the residual lignin content on the specific absorption of ozone is determined. It is found that in a prolonged stage of ozonation, ozone is consumed mostly for the reaction with lignin.

Biomethanation of rice and wheat straw

World Journal of Microbiology & Biotechnology, 1994
When rice or wheat straw was added to cattle dung slurry and digested anaerobically, daily gas production increased from 176 to 331 l/kg total solids with 100% rice straw and to 194 l/kg total solids with 40% wheat straw. Not only was methane production enhanced by adding chopped crop residues but a greater biodegradability of organic matter in the ...

Levulinic acid production from wheat straw

Bioresource Technology, 2007
Studies were carried out on the effects of temperature, acid concentration, liquid:solid ratio and reaction time on levulinic acid production from wheat straw using response surface methodology. The P-value of the coefficient for acid concentration was 0.0002, suggesting that this was highly significant.

Plasma-Assisted Pretreatment of Wheat Straw

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2010
O₃ generated in a plasma at atmospheric pressure and room temperature, fed with dried air (or oxygen-enriched dried air), has been used for the degradation of lignin in wheat straw to optimize the enzymatic hydrolysis and to get more fermentable sugars. A fixed bed reactor was used combined with a CO₂ detector and an online technique for O₃ measurement

Enzymic saccharification of pretreated wheat straw

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1985
AbstractStudies of pretreatment of wheat and its subsequent saccharification by Trichoderma reesei cellulases are reported. Steam explosion was found to be the most effective of the pretreatment methods tested. Data are presented describing the effect of enzyme and substrate concentration on the rate and degree of hydrolysis.

The briquetting of wheat straw

Journal of Agricultural Engineering Research, 1977
Abstract Limited tests have been carried out which demonstrate that wheat straw can be compressed to a relative density greater than unity, and stabilized at that density without binding or other mechanical aids. This represents a reduction in the volume of the material by an order of magnitude, so the straw could be transported and stored more ...

Pelletizing Properties of Wheat Straw Blending with Rice Straw

Energy & Fuels, 2017
Mixing different types of biomass materials to achieve better pelletizing properties is a potential method to improve the biomass pelletizing process. In this study, experiments were carried out with a single pellet unit to obtain the pelletizing properties of wheat straw blending with rice straw.

Nutraceutical and Functional Scenario of Wheat Straw

Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, 2013
In the era of nutrition, much focus has been remunerated to functional and nutraceutical foodstuffs. The health endorsing potential of such provisions is attributed to affluent phytochemistry. These dynamic constituents have functional possessions that are imperative for cereal industry. The functional and nutraceutical significance of variety of foods

Net Energy Value of Ammoniated Wheat Straw

Journal of Animal Science, 1986
Eight steers (327 kg average) were fed diets containing either nontreated or anhydrous NH3-treated wheat straw in a two-period crossover design. Intake and digestibilities of dry matter, gross energy, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber and crude protein were measured by total collection.
