A novel approach for the production of zinc borate (4ZnO·B2O3·H2O) using a single-step hydrothermal method

open access: yesMain Group Metal Chemistry, 2021
Zinc borate having the formula of 4ZnO·B2O3·H2O has been used as a fire retardant for polymers requiring high processing temperatures since it has a high dehydration temperature (around 415°C).

Simplicial Complexes of Whisker Type [PDF]

open access: yesThe Electronic Journal of Combinatorics, 2015
Let $I\subset K[x_1,\ldots,x_n]$ be  a zero-dimensional monomial ideal, and $\Delta(I)$ be the simplicial complex whose Stanley--Reisner ideal is the polarization of $I$. It follows from a result of Soleyman Jahan that $\Delta(I)$ is shellable. We give a new short proof of this fact by providing an explicit shelling. Moreover, we show that  $\Delta(I)$

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

The microbiome in human skin aging

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐related skin changes encompass the well‐known visible phenotypic alterations, together with microbiome dysbiosis and a series of molecular aging hallmarks. These hallmarks characterize not only a fully stablished aged phenotype but also the skin aging process itself.

Magnetostrictive Bioinspired Whisker Sensor Based on Galfenol Composite Cantilever Beam Realizing Bidirectional Tactile Perception

open access: yesApplied Bionics and Biomechanics, 2018
A magnetostrictive bioinspired whisker sensor based on a galfenol/beryllium-bronze/galfenol composite cantilever beam was developed in this work. According to the new design concept, the proposed whisker can output positive and negative voltages under ...

Excitatory neuronal CHD8 in the regulation of neocortical development and sensory-motor behaviors

open access: yesCell Reports, 2021
Summary: CHD8 (chromodomain helicase DNA-binding protein 8) is a chromatin remodeler associated with autism spectrum disorders. Homozygous Chd8 deletion in mice leads to embryonic lethality, making it difficult to assess whether CHD8 regulates brain ...

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Tactile Experience Shapes Prey-Capture Behavior in Etruscan Shrews

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2012
A crucial role of tactile experience for the maturation of neural response properties in the somatosensory system is well established, but little is known about the role of tactile experience in the development of tactile behaviors.
