Anodized Oxidative Electrosynthesis of Magnesium Silicate Whiskers

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2013
Magnesium silicate (Mg2SiO4) whiskers were synthesized by a simple anodized oxidative electrosynthesis method, which consumed lower energy and was easier to control than traditional methods.

A system for tracking whisker kinematics and whisker shape in three dimensions

open access: yesPLOS Computational Biology, 2019
Abstract Quantification of behaviour is essential for systems neuroscience. Since the whisker system is a major model system for investigating the neural basis of behaviour, it is important to have methods for measuring whisker movements from behaving animals.

Using cell‐free RNA to identify B‐ and T‐cell clonality for diagnosis and monitoring of B‐ and T‐cell neoplasms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using peripheral blood for determining B‐cell or T‐cell clonality is more reliable when we use cell‐free RNA (cfRNA) because cells release blood significantly more RNA than DNA. Next‐generation sequencing (NGS) of cfRNA allows us to evaluate fragment cfRNA and evaluate clonality reliably without the need for prior determination of the specific dominant

Risk of transition to lead-free in the space sector: Sn whisker growth in thermal vacuum conditions from submicron Sn layer

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Sn whisker growth was investigated from submicron Sn layers on Cu substrates in thermal vacuum conditions to compare the growth differences in ambient and space conditions. Cu substrates were covered with 500 nm thick Sn by PVD.

Texture Signals in Whisker Vibrations

open access: yesJournal of Neurophysiology, 2006
Rodents excel in making texture judgments by sweeping their whiskers across a surface. Here we aimed to identify the signals present in whisker vibrations that give rise to such fine sensory discriminations. First, we used sensors to capture vibration signals in metal whiskers during active whisking of an artificial system and in natural whiskers ...

A minimal cellulosome‐like system in Cellulosilyticum lentocellum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cellulose‐degrading bacteria typically use cellulosomes, large multi‐enzyme complexes on a scaffold protein. In Cellulosilyticum lentocellum, we characterise a far smaller arrangement, a single scaffold bound to one cellulase through a single cohesin‐dockerin interaction.

Shape effect of whisker on Al2O3/SiC whisker composites.

open access: yesJournal of the Japan Society of Powder and Powder Metallurgy, 1990
The mechnical properties of 20vol%-SiC whisker reinforced A1203-matrix composites were investigated. Composites are produced using two types of whiskers with 0.5μm and 0.8μm in diameter respectively. Also, α and γ alumina were used as starting materials for matrix. The composites were prepared by hot pressing mixtures of alumina powder containing 20vol%

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.
