Radiation field of whispering gallery waves over a concave-convex boundary
Journal of Soviet Mathematics, 1982In this work the wave field arising over a concave-convex reflecting boundary is studied in the Kirchhoff approximation. The field arises as a result of the incidence of whispering gallery waves on an inflection point of the boundary from the concave side.

Broadband directional couplers using traveling-wave whispering-gallery-mode dielectric resonators
IEEE Middle East Conference on Antennas and Propagation (MECAP 2010), 2010This paper presents a broadband directional coupler using traveling-wave (TW) whispering-gallery-mode (WGM) resonators. The proposed directional coupler consists of two microstrip lines and two thin dielectric disks. The coupling ratio can be controlled by adjusting the spacing between both resonators and transmission lines.

Evanescent wave coupling of whispering gallery modes of a dielectric cylinder
IEE Proceedings J Optoelectronics, 1993By developing a direct correspondence between a given whispering gallery mode of a dielectric cylinder and a mode of an equivalent waveguide ring resonator, the evanescent wave coupling characteristics of such modes can be simply modelled. This also allows the conditions for resonant excitation of a single whispering gallery mode to be determined.
