Influence of an Argon/Silane Atmosphere on the Temperature of a Thermal Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of a silane‐doped argon atmosphere on the chemical composition and temperature of a thermal nontransferring argon plasma is investigated using optical emission spectroscopy. As a result of the high amount of free electrons resulting from the stepwise ionization and dissociation of the silane molecule, even a silane addition of 0.01 vol ...

Tunable white light emission by variation of composition and defects of electrospun Al2O3–SiO2 nanofibers

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2015
Composite nanofibers consisting of Al2O3–SiO2 were prepared by electrospinning in combination with post-calcination in air. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy were used to investigate the crystalline ...

Horizontal supergranule-scale motions inferred from TRACE ultraviolet observations of the chromosphere

open access: yes, 2010
We study horizontal supergranule-scale motions revealed by TRACE observation of the chromospheric emission, and investigate the coupling between the chromosphere and the underlying photosphere.

Phenomenological and Physically Based Modeling of Flow Stress and Strengthening Mechanism of Inconel 718

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Efficient and bright warm-white electroluminescence from lead-free metal halides

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Designing efficient light-emitting diodes with white-light-emission from broadband-emission metal halides remains a challenge. Here, the authors demonstrate bright and efficient lead-free LEDs based on cesium copper halides enabled by introducing Tween ...

An analysis of interplanetary solar radio emissions associated with a coronal mass ejection

open access: yes, 2016
Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are large-scale eruptions of magnetized plasma that may cause severe geomagnetic storms if Earth-directed. Here we report a rare instance with comprehensive in situ and remote sensing observa- tions of a CME combining white ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Excellent color rendering index single system white light emitting carbon dots for next generation lighting devices

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Recently, quantum dots (QDs) are finding enormous application in white light emitting diodes (WLEDs) and WLEDs with high color rendition are in high demand. QD-WLEDs use different color (Red, Blue, Green) emitting QDs to obtain white light.
