Semi-macrosegregation and carbide banding in high-carbon chromium bearing steels: Characteristics, evolution, and control

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2023
Semi-macrosegregation in continuously cast blooms and its associated carbide banding defects in hot-rolled bars were investigated to explore the characteristics, evolution, and control methods in high-carbon chromium bearing steel.

Proximity Gettering Design of Hydrocarbon–Molecular–Ion–Implanted Silicon Wafers Using Dark Current Spectroscopy for CMOS Image Sensors

open access: yesSensors, 2019
We developed silicon epitaxial wafers with high gettering capability by using hydrocarbon−molecular−ion implantation. These wafers also have the effect of hydrogen passivation on process-induced defects and a barrier to out-diffusion of ...

Enamel Defects During Orthodontic Treatment

open access: yesBalkan Journal of Dental Medicine, 2018
Background/Aim: Orthodontic treatment has an inherent potential for causing defects to enamel in the course of bonding and debonding procedures, interproximal enamel stripping and induce the presence of white spot lesions, enamel discoloration or wear ...

Objective aesthetic performance of Icon treatment by deep infiltration: a case report

open access: yesSenses and Sciences, 2016
Enamel hypomineralization is characterized by decreased refractive index of the lesion surface as compared to the surrounding sound enamel. Icon® treatment has been recently successfully used for the cosmetic treatment of enamel demineralizations seen ...

Mapping of QTL affecting incidence of blood and meat inclusions in egg layers

open access: yesBMC Genetics, 2011
Background Occurrence of blood and meat inclusions is an internal egg quality defect. Mass candling reveals most of the spots, but because brown eggshell hampers selection in brown chicken lines it has not been possible to eliminate the defect by ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Spotting the Pattern: A Review on White Coat Color in the Domestic Horse

open access: yesAnimals
Traits such as shape, size, and color often influence the economic and sentimental value of a horse. Around the world, horses are bred and prized for the colors and markings that make their unique coat patterns stand out from the crowd.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Proximity gettering technique using CH 3 O multielement molecular ion implantation for the reduction of the white spot defect density in CMOS image sensor

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2019
Abstract We have characterized CH 3 O ion-implanted epitaxial wafers in device fabrication processes. We confirmed that the CH 3 O ion-implanted wafers can reduce the density of white spot defects in CMOS image sensors.
