Microinvasive esthetic approach for deep enamel white spot lesion
The white spot lesion on the dental enamel is an optical alteration that compromises the esthetics of smile. It can be caused by many factors, among them, defects in mineralization and formation of tooth enamel.

A defect in a novel ADAMTS family member is the cause of the belted white-spotting mutation [PDF]
Several features of the pigment defect in belted (bt) mutant mice suggest that it occurs as a result of a defect in melanocyte development that is unique from those described for other classical white-spotting mutations. We report here that bt mice carry mutations in Adamts20, a novel member of the ADAMTS family of secreted metalloproteases.

Chemical suppression of a subpopulation of primitive hematopoietic progenitor cells: 1,3-butadiene produces a hematopoietic defect similar to steel or white spotted mutations in mice. [PDF]
Chronic exposure of mice to 1,3-butadiene produces a macrocytic-megaloblastic anemia, thymic hypoplasia, and an increased incidence of T-cell lymphoma/leukemia. This is reminiscent of pathologies observed in mice bearing mutations at the W and Sl loci, which are deficient in c-kit and c-kit ligand (CKL), respectively.
