Ascospores as primary inoculum for epidemics of white leaf spot (Mycosphaerella capsellae ) in winter oilseed rape in the UK [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In the UK, conidia of Pseudocercosporella capsellae, the anamorph of Mycosphaerella capsellae, were observed on white leaf spot lesions on leaves throughout the growing season.

Is Bleaching Effective in Managing Post-orthodontic White-spot Lesions? A Systematic Review. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
PURPOSE White spot lesions (WSL) are common side-effects of orthodontic treatment with fixed multi-bracketed appliances. The aim of this review was to find all available literature and critically assess the evidence for the efficacy of bleaching as a ...

Protocol for the development of a Core Outcome Set for trials on the prevention and treatment of Orthodontically induced enamel White Spot Lesions (COS-OWSL) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
BackgroundEnamel white spot lesions (WSLs), characterized by an opaque, matt, and chalky white appearance of enamel, are a sign of incipient caries. WSLs are common in orthodontic practice and can affect both the oral health and dental aesthetics of ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Late Infiltration of Post-orthodontic White Spot Lesions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
White spot lesion (WSL) infiltration has been recommended immediately after debonding of orthodontic brackets. It is however not clear if established inactive WSLs can also be masked through infiltrationOrthodontic treatment of a 19-year-old patient had ...

Colour Change and Surface Gloss of Unpolished Infiltrated Bovine Enamel Submitted to Toothbrushing, pH Cycling and Artificial Ageing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2019
Introduction: The first clinical sign of a caries lesion which represents mineral loss from the enamel subsurface is white spot lesion. Thus, the use of a resin infiltrant has been cited as a promising treatment, once the resin infiltrant promotes an ...

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.

Wear and morphology of infiltrated white spot lesions

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry, 2011
To evaluate the toothbrush wear resistance of infiltrated artificial white spot lesions following two infiltration strategies, and to assess their ultramorphology.Flat enamel surfaces from freshly extracted bovine teeth were polished and immersed in a Buskes demineralising solution for 30 days to create incipient caries-like lesions (white spots).
