Whole-Genome Alignment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Whole-genome alignment (WGA) is the prediction of evolutionary relationships at the nucleotide level between two or more genomes. It combines aspects of both colinear sequence alignment and gene orthology prediction, and is typically more challenging to address than either of these tasks due to the size and complexity of whole genomes.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Effect of Microwave Pretreatment on Water Absorption Characteristics, Appearance and Starch Properties of Adzuki Bean

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2023
This study aimed to improve the water absorption rate of adzuki bean at room temperature by producing cracks in adzuki bean epidermis via microwave pretreatment. Adzuki bean was pretreated by microwave at 80~800 W for 10~50 s, and then the changes in its

Whole body measurement systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
A system for measuring the volume and volume variations of a human body under zero gravity conditions is disclosed. An enclosed chamber having a defined volume and arranged for receiving a human body is provided with means for infrasonically varying the ...

Multiplicative stochastic heat equations on the whole space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We carry out the construction of some ill-posed multiplicative stochastic heat equations on unbounded domains. The two main equations our result covers are, on the one hand the parabolic Anderson model on R³, and on the other hand the KPZ equation on R ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

The Dialectical Unity between the Part and the Whole in the Conception of Marxist - Leninist Philosophy

open access: yesVietnam Journal of Education, 2023
The concept of the “part” and the “whole,” as well as the relationship between them, is a major topic in the history of philosophy in general, and the history of Western philosophy in particular, which has been discussed by many philosophers and schools

Study on the Pre-cooking Process and Physicochemical Properties of Red Bean

open access: yesLiang you shipin ke-ji, 2023
Aiming at the disadvantages of thick seed coat and difficult cooking of red beans, a red bean product that can be co-cooked with white rice was developed through the pre-cooking technology of "microwave pretreatment-soaking-steaming".

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Effect of Moderate Electric Field on α-Amylase-Catalyzed Hydrolysis of Corn Starch

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji, 2022
This study aimed to enhance α-amylase-catalyzed hydrolysis of corn starch via moderate electric field (MEF). The effect of MEF intensity, frequency, buffer concentration, and enzyme-solution ratio on enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency was investigated by ...
