Effects of extreme mountain ultramarathon on stress‐related biomarkers from multiple biological matrices in adult male runners

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, June 2026.
Abstract Prior investigations concerning finishers of the Tor des Géants (TDG) have demonstrated oxi‐inflammatory response. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been identified as prospective biomarkers for oxi‐inflammatory and stress responses. This study addressed the acute responses concerning salivary miRNAs, circulating redox markers and urinary exercise ...

Seed source climate and precipitation timing determine dryland tree recruitment in hot and dry range margins

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 5, May 2026.
Using a common garden study with experimental seasonal precipitation regimes, this study shows that intraspecific phenotypic variation mediates the effect of seasonal drought on Pinus monophylla recruitment, suggesting that different populations may respond uniquely to changes in climate.

Field Programmable Gate Array‐Based Control Systems for Highly Stable Laser Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
This review highlights the transition from analog to FPGA‐based digital architectures for laser frequency stabilization, noting their superior latency and flexibility. It focuses on Modulation Transfer Spectroscopy (MTS) as a robust, background‐free method for high‐precision locking that minimizes residual amplitude modulation.

Beyond Rock Glaciers: Investigating Meltwater Contribution and Water Quality in High‐Mountain Springs From Different Landforms

open access: yesHydrological Processes, Volume 40, Issue 4, April 2026.
We investigated the water chemistry of springs from different landforms in high‐elevation Alpine catchments. Only in predisposing lithological settings, springs from landforms most likely influenced by ice had a poor water quality with high dissolved concentrations of metals.

Cross‐Linked Acrylate Binder for High‐Rate Graphite Anodes

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2026.
A commercially available, cross‐linked acrylate binder (Carbopol® Ultrez10, x‐PAA) with high thickening efficiency is applied here for graphite anodes. Cells incorporating x‐PAA anodes outperform CMC reference under fast‐charging conditions (up to 5C) presumably since x‐PAA does not adsorb on graphite, thus enabling more effective Li+ insertion and ...
