Progress in palynology of the Gelasian–Calabrian Stages in Europe: Ten messages [PDF]
Europe has at present the most extensive network of palynological sites covering the Late Pliocene and the Early Pleistocene or roughly the Gelasian-Calabrian Stages. This paper covers ten points of recent progress in the palynology of this time period:

Dynamical properties of almost repetitive Delone sets
We consider the collection of uniformly discrete point sets in Euclidean space equipped with the vague topology. For a point set in this collection, we characterise minimality of an associated dynamical system by almost repetitivity of the point set.

Deformation‐Induced Formation of Stray Grains in Additive Manufacturing of Single Crystals
Stray grain formation severely limits the additive manufacturing of single‐crystal alloys. By integrating in situ synchrotron techniques, ex situ characterization, and multi‐scale multi‐physics modeling, the authors reveal that stray grains originate from dislocations at the solid‐liquid interface, rather than thermal supercooling in conventional ...

The New Zealand Kauri (Agathis Australis) Research Project: A Radiocarbon Dating Intercomparison of Younger Dryas Wood and Implications for IntCal13 [PDF]
We describe here the New Zealand kauri (Agathis australis) Younger Dryas (YD) research project, which aims to undertake Δ14C analysis of ~140 decadal floating wood samples spanning the time interval ~13.1–11.7 kyr cal BP.

Short-Term Magnetic Field Variations From the Post-depositional Remanence of Lake Sediments
Paleomagnetic records obtained from lake sediments provide important constraints on geomagnetic field behavior. Secular variation recorded in sediments is used in global geomagnetic field models, particularly over longer timescales when archeomagnetic ...

ABSTRACT The second half of the Allerød interstadial in the Netherlands is characterised by pine forest. Excavated trunks of 165 pine trees at Leusden‐Den Treek in the central Netherlands (LETR16) were dated by dendrochronology and radiocarbon. Two chronologically separated pine forest phases occurred during relatively warm periods as recorded in ...

The Effective Field Theory of Cosmological Large Scale Structures [PDF]
Large scale structure surveys will likely become the next leading cosmological probe. In our universe, matter perturbations are large on short distances and small at long scales, i.e. strongly coupled in the UV and weakly coupled in the IR.
