Materials and Methods from Unravelling the relationship between the tsetse fly and its obligate symbiont Wigglesworthia: transcriptomic and metabolomic landscapes reveals highly integrated physiological networks.

open access: yes, 2017
Insects with restricted diets rely on obligate microbes to fulfil nutritional requirements essential for biological function. Tsetse flies, vectors of African trypanosome parasites, feed exclusively on vertebrate blood and harbour the obligate endosymbiont Wigglesworthia glossinidia. Without Wigglesworthia, tsetse are unable to reproduce.

Graphical representation of the proportion of bacteriome transcriptome reads mapping to annotated and unannotated Glossina sequences, bacterial transcripts (Wigglesworthia + Sodalis), mitochondrial transcripts and viral transcripts. Side bars represent proportions of reads mapped to Wigglesworthia and Glossina RNA classes (See table S2 for details).

A Pseudo-Boolean programming approach for computing the breakpoint distance between two genomes with duplicate genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
International audienceComparing genomes of different species has become a crucial problem in comparative genomics. Recent research have resulted in different genomic distance definitions: number of breakpoints, number of common intervals, number of ...

Figure S3: Gene ontology analysis of bacteriocyte-enriched products associated with molecular functions from Unravelling the relationship between the tsetse fly and its obligate symbiont Wigglesworthia: transcriptomic and metabolomic landscapes reveals highly integrated physiological networks

open access: yes, 2017
Bars represent the sum of the RPKM values of the transcripts associated with the respective GO molecular function categories. Numbers next to the right of the bars represent the number of genes associated with each category (see also Table S4).
