Complete metric absolute neighborhood retracts

open access: yes, 2003
We characterize complete metric absolute (neighborhood) retracts in terms of existence of certain maps of CW-polytopes. Using our result, we prove that a compact metric space with a convex and locally convex simplicial structure is an AR.

Hyperspace Topologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
In this paper we study properties of metric spaces. We consider the collection of all nonempty closed subsets, Cl(X), of a metric space (X,d) and topologies on C.(X) induced by d.

Théorème ergodique ponctuel et lois fortes des grands nombres pour des points aléatoires d'un espace métrique à courbure négative

open access: yes, 1997
International audienceLet M be a complete separable metric space with negative curvature as defined by Herer. Using Herer’s definition of the mathematical expectation of a random point of M, we extend to sequences of random points of M a pointwise ...

Investigation of the guanine quadruplex resolving activity of the DEAH-box RNA helicase RHAU [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Generally depicted as single- or double-stranded molecules, nucleic acids sequences can adopt various forms of stable secondary structures. In particular, guanine-riche sequence of DNA and RNA can form atypical four-stranded helical structures termed G ...

On hit-and-miss hyperspace topologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
summary:The Vietoris topology and Fell topologies on the closed subsets of a Hausdorff uniform space are prototypes for hit-and-miss hyperspace topologies, having as a subbase all closed sets that hit a variable open set, plus all closed sets that miss (=

Topologies on closed and closed convex sets

open access: yes, 1993
This monograph provides an introduction to the theory of topologies defined on the closed subsets of a metric space, and on the closed convex subsets of a normed linear space as well.

Study of statistical and I-convergences in topological spaces

open access: yes, 2019
Let X be a non-empty set and C be a class consisting of triads ((s_d)_{d∈D},x,I), where (s_d)_{d∈D} is a net in X, x∈X and I is an ideal of the directed set D. We define the properties that such a class must have and call it an ideal convergence class in

Topological Games and Hyperspace Topologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The paper proposes a uni?ed description of hypertopologies, i.e. topologies on the nonempty closed subsets of a topological space, based on the notion of approach spaces introduced by R. Lowen. As a special case of this description we obtain the abstract

The hyperspace of an analytic metrizable space is analytic

open access: yes, 1993
Se (X, Ƭ) è uno spazio analitico metrizzabile e d una metrica compatibile con la topologia Ƭ allora l'iperspazio CL(X) dotato della topologia d-Wijsman è anch'esso analitico e metrizzabile.
