Why the World Reads Wikipedia: Beyond English Speakers [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
As one of the Web's primary multilingual knowledge sources, Wikipedia is read by millions of people across the globe every day. Despite this global readership, little is known about why users read Wikipedia's various language editions. To bridge this gap, we conduct a comparative study by combining a large-scale survey of Wikipedia readers across 14 ...

Wikipedia Citations: A comprehensive dataset of citations with identifiers extracted from English Wikipedia [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Wikipedia's contents are based on reliable and published sources. To close this gap, we release Wikipedia Citations, a comprehensive dataset of citations extracted from Wikipedia. A total of

Wikipedia: encyclopaedia cardiologica [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of Medicine, 2012
The article on Wikipedia by Metcalfe and Powell1 was both interesting and informative. The authors argue that although Wikipedia is the most frequently used online educational resource, it is often poorly structured. We cannot disagree with that and can further add that the website's articles are nowhere close to being comprehensive.

Automatic Wikipedia Link Generation Based On Interlanguage Links [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
This paper presents a new way to increase interconnectivity in small Wikipedias (fewer than a 100,000 articles), by automatically linking articles based on interlanguage links. Many small Wikipedias have many articles with very few links, this is mainly due to the short article length. This makes it difficult to navigate between the articles.

Meta‐Virtuality: Strategies of Disembeddedness in Virtual Interiorities

open access: yesJournal of Interior Design, EarlyView., 2022
ABSTRACT To reclaim their seat in the rapidly growing market of virtual space, designers of the built environment can benefit from reevaluating theories that see the virtual as a mere extension/reflection of the physical. By claiming ontological autonomy from external worlds, the virtual is liberated from the hegemonic control of the physical.
