Abstract Aim Mebendazole (MBZ), a benzimidazole anthelmintic with established clinical use, has emerged as a repurposing candidate for primary brain tumours due to its multimodal anticancer actions and central nervous system penetrance. This systematic review synthesizes preclinical and clinical evidence evaluating MBZ's efficacy, mechanisms of action ...

Brain size/body weight in the dingo (Canis dingo): Comparisons with domestic and wild canids
Smith, BP ORCiD: 0000-0002-0873-3917Endocranial volume was measured in a large sample (n=128) of free ranging dingoes (Canis dingo) where body size was known.

Labeling Strategies for Monitoring Cytoskeleton Dynamics in Cultured Epithelial Cells
ABSTRACT Collective cell migration relies on coordinated cytoskeletal remodeling, yet the impact of live‐cell actin filament probes on these dynamics remains poorly characterized. Here, we systematically compared the performance and cellular effects of fluorogenic jasplakinolide‐based probes, SiR‐actin and SiR‐XActin, with the genetically encoded ...

The status of wild canids (Canidae, Carnivora) in Vietnam
Four species of wild canids are documented as occurring in Vietnam: Dhole Cuon alpinus, Eurasian Golden Jackal Canis aureus, Red Fox Vulpes vulpes and Raccoon Dog Nyctereutes procyonoides. Except for Dhole, all species are widely distributed globally and are listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

Abstract Neural crest cells are multipotent, migratory stem‐like cells essential for vertebrate development that contribute broadly to many tissues including the craniofacial skeleton, peripheral nervous system, and pigment‐producing cells. Their development progresses through phases of induction, specification, delamination, migration, and ...

Canine Rabies Ecology in Southern Africa
Rabies is a widespread disease in African domestic dogs and certain wild canine populations. Canine rabies became established in Africa during the 20th century, coinciding with ecologic changes that favored its emergence in canids. I present a conceptual

From patterns to predictions: a framework for the spatial epidemiology of wildlife diseases
Wildlife diseases pose a significant threat to biodiversity conservation, public health, and livestock. Spatial epidemiology provides a robust framework to understand disease dynamics and guide policy and management. However, the rapid proliferation of spatial methods has largely occurred in isolation across disciplines, leaving the field without a ...

Scaling of the corpus callosum in wild and domestic canids: Insights into the domesticated brain. [PDF]
All domesticated mammals exhibit marked reductions in overall brain size, however, it is unknown whether the corpus callosum, an integral white matter fiber pathway for interhemispheric cortical communication, is affected by domestication differentially ...

Let's Talk About Bone Cylinders. Taphonomy of Carnivores and Humans
ABSTRACTBone cylinders are a distinctive structure predominantly produced by durophagous carnivoran species during the consumption of long bones, in which the diaphyseal canal remains intact while both epiphyses are removed or consumed. This study evaluates the significance of this morphology, traditionally attributed to extant and extinct hyena ...
