Germination of Wild Poinsettia(Euphorbia heterophylla)

Weed Science, 1978
Germination studies were conducted on seed of wild poinsettia(Euphorbia heterophyllaL.) collected in 1974 and 1975. Significant differences in germination existed between the seedlots. An alternating temperature regime of 25/35 C was optimum for germination, and no effect of light was noted at this temperature regime.

Poinsettia's wild ancestor in the Mexican dry tropics: Historical, genetic, and environmental evidence

American Journal of Botany, 2012
• Premise of the study: The poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) is the world's most economically important potted plant, but despite its preeminence it is not clear which wild populations are ancestral to the varieties cultivated around the world. Tradition holds that the U.S. envoy to Mexico J. R.

ANTIOXIDANT CAPACITY AND TOTAL PHENOLS OF WILD POINSETTIA (Euphorbia heterophylla) AS POTENTIAL TEA INFUSION PRODUCT

Malaysian Applied Biology, 2022
The use of wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) is known as a traditional medicinal ingredient. The potential of this plant is the latex which can be used as a protease enzyme and the leaves can be used as herbal tea or tea infusion. To provide the potential of dried wild poinsettia, the total phenols and antioxidant capacity were measured by the ...

Allelopathic Effects of Aconitic Acid on Wild Poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla) and Morningglory (Ipomoea grandifolia)

Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B: Pesticides, Food Contaminants, and Agricultural Wastes, 2005
High infestations of alexandergrass (Brachiaria plantaginea) in experimental area have reduced seedbank of some weed species in soil at a greater degree compared to those obtained with the use of an efficient herbicide. Aconitic acid (AA) has been identified in those plants in high concentration. Thus, two experiments were carried out in the laboratory

Wild poinsettia biology and management – determining optimal control with herbicides and propane flaming

Crop Protection, 2019
Abstract Wild poinsettia (Euphorbia heterophylla L.) is a troublesome weed in irrigated summer crops and orchards. Data regarding the optimal herbicide rates for control of this weed, the impact of phenology on control efficacy, and non-chemical control methods for this weed are scarce.
