Infectious Sinusitis in Wild Turkeys
Avian Diseases, 1982SUMMARY Three sick wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo) from Cumberland Island, Georgia, were both serologically positive and culturepositive for Mycoplasma gallisepticunm. Clinical signs and lesions in affected birds were typical of infectious sinusitis. This is the first report of the isolation of M. gallisepticum from wild turkeys.

HISTOMONIASIS IN WILD TURKEYS IN MISSISSIPPI
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1980Blackhead (histomoniasis, enterohepatitis) was diagnosed as the cause of death for three wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) found in widely separated areas in Mississippi. The turkeys came from areas with high turkey population densities and supplemental feeding programs.

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1976An accidental poisoning of wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo silvestris) by O,O-Diethyl O-[p-(methylsulfinyl) phenyl] phosphorothioate is reported. Diagnosis was achieved by history, clinical observations, postmortem lesions, diagnostic therapy and pesticide analysis.

Mycoplasma Gallopavonis in Eastern Wild Turkeys
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1992Serum samples and tracheal cultures were collected from eastern wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo sylvestris) trapped for relocation in South Carolina (USA) during 1985 to 1990. Sera were tested for Mycoplasma gallisepticum and M. synoviae by the rapid plate agglutination and hemagglutination inhibition tests and were found to be negative.

The Journal of Protozoology, 1974SYNOPSISFrom 1969 through 1972, 605 wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo Linnaeus) from 10 localities in Florida were examined for blood protozoans. The prevalence in turkeys more than a month old was 84% for Haemoproteus meleagridis Levine, 1961 and 72% for Leucocytozoon smithi Laveran and Lucet, 1905.

Postharmostomiasis in Wild Turkeys in New Mexico
Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1994Postharmostomum gallinum (Trematoda: Digenea; Brachylaimidae) is reported for the second time from the wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo) in North America. Seventy-six, 14 and three sexually mature specimens, respectively, were removed from the ceca of three of five wild turkeys collected in south-eastern New Mexico (USA).
